In a change to the press release issued yesterday, Illustrious Blue will now NOT perform a workout before racing at Goodwood tomorrow.

Illustrious Blue has won seven times at Goodwood during his career including this season’s Group Two Artemis Goodwood Cup at the Festival meeting. The seven-year old is being prepared for a tilt at Australia’s most famous race, the Group One Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington, on Tuesday, November 2, and will remain in Australia after that run having been sold to Australian owners.

Trainer William Knight explained: “I have decided not to go ahead with the racecourse workout at Goodwood tomorrow. I’ve had a think about it and I don’t think it is necessary to take him away for a racecourse gallop. I will work him at home instead.

“The horse has to travel up to Newmarket on Thursday to go into quarantine for Australia and going to Goodwood the previous day could have made it all a bit unsettling for him.”

In recognition of Illustrious Blue’s outstanding record at Goodwood, the course will be staging a race in the horse’s honour during the 2011 season.
