MAHDI WARNED OFF FOR 10 YEARS
Results of an Enquiry held by the Jockey Club Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 25th September 2003
Panel: Lord Halifax (Chairman), Alastair Macdonald-Buchanan and John Wallinger
The Disciplinary Panel of the Jockey Club held an enquiry on 25th September 2003, to consider whether or not Kamil Mahdi, a former licensed trainer, had committed a breach of Rule 201(vi) of the Rules of Racing, in light of his conviction at Suffolk Magistrates Court on 25th February 2003, on five counts of causing unnecessary suffering to horses in his care.
Having considered the evidence, including a statement from Mahdi, the Panel found him to be in breach of Rule 201(vi) and declared him to be a disqualified person for 10 years, with immediate effect.
The Panel also considered whether he had committed a breach of Rule 205(iv) of the Rules of Racing, concerning his attendance at Nottingham Racecourse during their meeting on 23rd October 2002 whilst a disqualified person.
Having considered the evidence, including a statement from Mahdi, the Panel accepted an admission from him that he was in breach of Rule 205(iv) and declared him to be a disqualified person until 24th September 2004.
