NICHOLLS' SHOTGUN TARGETS GOLD
The Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup is the target for Paul Nicholls' exciting chaser Shotgun Willy. The seven-year-old beat First Gold in Newbury's AON Chase in February and Nicholls feel there could be better to come. He said: "Shotgun Willy had a great season last winter, winning two valuable races at Newbury including beating First Gold in the AON Chase and, as he is only seven, I think he could improve again.
"Obviously the Gold Cup would be his aim this term and he will probably only have three runs before the Festival - two this side of the New Year and one before Cheltenham. We might just start him off in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby," said Nicholls.
The Martell Melling Chase winner Fadalko is another targetted at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Nicholls added: "I would like to think we might get our revenge on Edredon Bleu in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham next March! His season will start with trying to win the Desert Orchid Chase at Wincanton for the second year running or in Exeter's Haldon Gold Cup."
