2pm Windflower March Stakes (Listed Race) 1m6f

GOING: GOOD

for the best odds go to www.BritOdds.com
BP= the best price at the time of writing

1) (1) 2025 Midas Way Patrick Chamings 5-9-07 Ryan Moore
Reasonably consistent performer at Listed level but winless since 2003 and vulnerable to more progressive types - may need further. BP= 20/1

2) (6) -302 Mubtaker Marcus Tregoning 8-9-07 Richard Hills
Grand old campaigner whose finest hour came when second in 2003 Arc. A Newbury specialist, he just failed to win the Geoffrey Freer Stakes for a fourth time recently. Best of the older horses. BP= 15/8

3) (2) 4735 Astrocharm Mark Tompkins 6-9-02 Nicky Mackay
Group Three scorer here last season and showed signs of a return to form at York last time, but could need faster ground and looks a bit up against it in any case. BP= 12/1

4) (5) 1172 Unfurled John Dunlop 3-8-10 Richard Quinn
Showed his aptitude for the course when taking the Predominate in May and when second last time in the Gordon Stakes. Was well beaten by The Geezer in the latter race but the Derby seventh should improve for this step up in distance. BP= 6/1

5) (4) 1-51 Centaurus Saeed Bin Suroor 3-8-07t Frankie Dettori
The least exposed member of the field with two wins from three starts. Scored a bloodless 15-length victory at Newmarket last time and could be anything. Stable has been talking of possible St Leger plans so must be respected - sure to start favourite. BP= 11/8

6) (3) 3142 Art Eyes David Elsworth 3-8-02 Frankie McDonald
Stable in good form and she finished second in competitive handicap at the Festival meeting here last time. The winner of a 12-furlong Leicester handicap looks as if she will be suited by the step up in distance and ground should be no problem. Has plenty to do on the ratings but could surprise. BP= 33/1

SUMMARY
This is a tricky contest with any of the six up to winning it. It is worth opposing the front wto in the market, Centaurus because he has yet to prove himself and Mubtaker becauzse he is away from Newbury. Unfurled is another who has still to prove himself while the two older horses Midas Way and Astrocharm have had plenty of chances. This leaves ART EYES who is great value at 33/1 and could surprise.
