STALLS HANDLERS ACCREDITATION GRANTED AT WOLVERHAMPTON
Following the trials at Wolverhampton today, the Jockey Club agreed to the starting stalls team commencing operations at Wolverhampton next Monday, August 22.
The trial process consisted of two starts with a maximum field of 11 runners and a variety of maintenance and emergency procedures.
The trials were attended by:-
Tony Goodhew - (Chairman) Jockey Club Director of Racecourse Licensing and Standards
Peter Haynes - Jockey Club Senior Starter
Sean McDonald - Jockey Club Starter
Joe Banahan - Senior Starter Irish Turf Club
Chris Rutter - Stewards Secretary
Nicky Carlisle - Jockey Club Inspector of Courses
William Haggas - President NTF
Afterwards, Tony Goodhew, Director of Racecourse Services, expressed his satisfaction at the way the team performed today and was happy that the requirements of the Jockey Club relating to stalls handlers were met, such that the team would commence next week.
Tony commented: "It was agreed that the team would start operating at Wolverhampton next week to continue through the winter, subject to the satisfactory completion of a 12 week probationary period."
Jon Pullin, Racing Operations Manager for Arena Leisure, expressed his delight with the performance of the stalls team who have undergone extensive training over the last two weeks to establish a committed and cohesive team.
He said: "I was delighted with the team today who performed as anticipated. I would like to thank the trainers who supplied horses for the trials, Reg Hollinshead, Brian Baugh, Brian Leavy, Heather Dalton, Chris Kellett, James Unett and Trevor Wall.
"I would also like to thank trainer William Haggas who attended today."
