Vodafone Nassau Stakes, Goodwood, 1m 2f
3.20pm Saturday, August 4, 2001

Best Prices: Coral Eurobet (CE), Ladbrokes (L), William Hill (H) and Tote (T)

1) 14647 CAYMAN SUNSET Ed Dunlop 4-9-01 Jimmy Fortune [2]
Beautifully-bred by Night Shift out of Robinia, Cayman Sunset won the Listed Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket in May. Although she has not been disgraced in Group company since this is her first step up to the highest level and she really doesn't look good enough to figure in the finish here. BP=25 generally except CE

2) 21-44 DANCEABOUT Geoff Wragg 4-9-01 Darryll Holland [6]
Newmarket-based Geoff Wragg won this race in 1988 with Ela Romara and Danceabout is just the sort of filly that he excels with. The Shareef Dancer filly has finished fourth on both of her starts in high-class company this season after winning the Group Two Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on her last start last term. She was unlucky in the Group Two Falmouth Stakes over a mile at Newmarket last time and seems to be crying out for this trip, though this is her first attempt at it.. She likes Goodwood as she proved when winning last season's Listed Oak Tree Stakes and she has a great chance today. BP=9/2 T, L

3) 4-125 DEAR DAUGHTER Sir Michael Stoute 3-8-06 Kieren Fallon [1]
Dear Daughter has so far only won a maiden, although she did finish runner-up in a Listed handicap at Ascot's Heath meeting. Sir Michael Stoute is a master at stepping horses up in class and winning with them. Fifth in the Group Two Falmouth Stakes and is another who seems to be wanting this trip. Not without a chance, but is little value at these odds.BP=8 H, L

4) 11111 LAILANI Ed Dunlop 3-8-06 Frankie Dettori [5]
Irish Oaks winner Lailani is on paper the one the rest have to beat today. She's not been beaten in five outings this season and her victory in the Curragh classic was a big step-up in class which she duly proved up to but there question marks about that form. No real value. BP=11/8 T

5) 5-404 SEQUOYAH Aidan O'Brien IRE 3-8-06 Michael Kinane [7]
Aidan O'Brien is having a marvellous season.. She was not beaten far when fourth to Lailani in the Irish Oaks and as she is bred to be more of a miler this step down in trip should suit. Interesting re-match with today's favourite. She has yet to find her trip and better value is offered elsewhere. BP=11/2 CE

6) 02400 SNOWFLAKE Aidan O'Brien IRE 3-8-06 [4]
Caerleon filly Snowflake was a very respectable fourth, beaten two lengths by Sahara Slew, in the Group Two Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. Since then she has been well-beaten in two more Group races and there is no reason for supporting her until she shows that she is capable of reproducing the Ribblesdale form. BP=66 H & CE

7) 53136 TIME AWAY John Dunlop 3-8-06 Pat Eddery [3]
Pat Eddery reported that Time Away did not stay when she finished sixth to Lailani in the Irish Oaks. A return to one mile two furlongs should suit and she was placed third in the French Oaks over that trip prior to the outing in Ireland. Before that she won the Musidora in the style of a high-class filly . She must have a good chance today and is good value. BP=11/2 CE

The value is with DANCEABOUT and TIME AWAY. The fact that TIME AWAY is a three-year-old and that age group have won for the past eight runnings of the race sways me in favour of the Ed Dunlop-trained filly.
