Going: Good to firm, firm in places

5.10pm £12,500 added Sporting Index Handicap 1m 2f

1) (4) 00-0010 HUMBLE OPINION Brian Meehan 4-10-00 Jimmy Fortune
Likes fast ground and showed himself to be in decent form when four lengths behind Hinterland over a mile at Sandown last time. All three career wins have come at a mile and is yet to trouble the judge in two efforts at this trip. He is also racing off 87 and his wins have come at 83 or below. BP= 6/1

2) (2) 40324-6 STARNAVEES Luca Cumani 5-10-00 Kerrin McEvoy
Listed placed over 10 furlongs for Jonathan Pease in France last term and looked in need of the outing when weakening to finish last of six over a mile at Ripon for new yard. Fast ground could be a concern as form has been on good or softer but one to consider. BP= 12/1

3) (5) (1)4-2315 BLUE BAJAN Andrew Turnell 4-9-13 Chris Catlin
Dead-heated for first over two furlongs further at Folkestone on his penultimate outing but failed to land a blow off a four pound higher mark at Windsor last time. Third to Inchloch over this trip at Nottingham in June and now 1lb better off with that rival for a length. Not out if it as he is a progressive sort but he is racing off his highest ever mark BP= 8/1

4) (11) 0-00043 COUP D’ETAT John Dunlop 4-9-11 Ryan Moore
Fast ground lover who has dropped to a winning mark. Caught the eye last twice with good late runs at Sandown over this trip, beaten a length both times. Arguably unlucky on latest outing when not getting a clear run. Has gone up 2lb since but must have a good chance. No value. BP= 5/2

5) (1) 210-640 CRUISE DIRECTOR Non-Runner

6) 1345-14 INCHLOCH Brendan Powell 4-9-09 Richard Hughes
Has shown good form in two starts this term, winning first time up at Nottingham, and closely linked with Blue Bajan on that form. Slightly hampered when fourth at Epsom on July 6. Lightly-raced and potentially could find more improvement. BP= 10/1

7) (6) 346000 SILVER BLUE Richard Hannon 3-9-09 Pat Dobbs
Has posted some decent efforts in Listed and Group Three company but has shown little dropped into handicap company his last two starts. Could do with some respite from the handicapper. BP= 28/1

8) (9) 30260(0)- SHE’S MY OUTSIDER Ian Wood 4-9-03 Richard Mullen
Looking for her first win since September 2004 and hard to fancy on her first attempt at beyond nine furlongs after a 249-day absence. BP= 50/1

9) (7) 23-52 GREAT ORATOR Henry Candy 4-9-03 Dane O’Neill
Lightly-raced maiden who ran with credit when second on his handicap debut over this trip at Windsor on July 3. The form of that contest was not great but there should be more to come from the gelding at some point. BP= 9/2

10) (8) 5-31010 SIR ARTHUR Mark Johnston 3-8-10 Joe Fanning
Can be forgiven his last run at Epsom when he failed to come down the hill and was virtually pulled up in the straight. A progressive type, he previously landed a fair three-year-old handicap over this trip and has claims. BP= 8/1

11) (3) 110000 GRACECHURCH Mick Channon 3-8-10
Captured a couple of 10-furlong handicaps in the spring but has shown little in four starts since. The handicapper looks to have his measure at present. BP=

SUMMARY

An interesting and open handicap. The value is with Inchloch each-way.
