Going: Good to Firm

3.45pm £20,000 totecourse to course Handicap, 1m 3f 135y

1) (4) 04251- FOXHAVEN Patrick Chamings 4-10-00 George Baker
Smart performer in the first half of last season, but hasn’t run since winning a soft ground mile and a half handicap at Goodwood in July last year by two and a half lengths from Art Eyes. Seems to prefer some give in the ground. BP= 12/1

2) (5) 1083(3)-1 MILLVILLE Michael Jarvis 6-9-12 Frankie Dettori
Consistent individual who got up in the final stride to deny Let’s Roll over a mile and a half on good to soft ground at York in May. Defied his highest ever handicap mark that day and will have to repeat the feat if he is to win here. BP= 9/2

3) (10) 0-51107 TOP SEED Mick Channon 5-9-02 Sam Hitchcott
Group-placed in his younger days but on a gradual decline before landing a pair of handicaps at Bath and Goodwood in the spring. Well-beaten behind Millville at York but unlucky in running when three lengths seventh to Alfie Noakes at Epsom in June. BP= 6/1

4) (6) 01(1)-231 BLUE BAJAN Andrew Turnell 4-9-02 Chris Catlin
Progressive handicapper with a decent turn of foot, he dead-heated with the useful Finalmente over 12 furlongs at Folkestone on June 3, and was previously runner-up here to Miss Provvidence after meeting trouble in running. Seems to go on any ground but has gone up in the weights. BP= 5/1

5) (2) (0)(3)/(7)9- FREDDY Ernst Oertel 7-9-01 Hayley Turner
South American Champion in 2002 who hasn’t raced since finishing ninth of 10 in a 12-furlong Grade Two contest at Santa Anita, California, in March 2005. Long absence to overcome and but a fascinating runner. BP=33/1

6) (1) 6-(0)7002 THYOLO Clive Cox 5-8-12 Dane O’Neill
Well-regarded last year when third in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot but disappointing thereafter and gelded. His recent second to Soulacroix in a York ladies’ race may point to a return to form and he has dropped significantly in the handicap. BP= 6/1

7) (8) 22-(1)(1)64 AMEEQ Gary Moore 4-8-11 Ryan Moore
His good fourth to Alfie Noakes over 12 furlongs at Epsom on June 3 followed a novice hurdle success at Wincanton the previous month. Likes a quick surface and his jockey has a good record at Windsor. Stable in great form too. BP= 4/1

8) (7) 150240/ MONTEVIDEO Jonjo O’Neill 6-8-11 Jim Crowley
His only success to date came in a mile and a half Leopardstown maiden for trainer John Oxx in June 2003. Disappointing over hurdles for current connections and hard to fancy. BP= 33/1

9) (9) 3-(0)0400 PEVENSEY Mark Buckley 4-8-11 Shane Kelly
Disappointing last twice but ran a decent fourth over 10 furlongs here in May. He is now 8lb better off with runner-up Blue Bajan but has since posted two disappointing efforts and is yet to win over this far. BP= 14/1

10) (3) 2410-(5)4 LUBERON Mark Johnston 3-8-06 Joe Fanning
Scored a convincing victory over a mile at Ayr in September. Well-beaten on reappearance in a Kempton Polytrack Listed contest in April and 25 lengths last of four behind Hazeymm over 10 furlongs at Newbury later that month when his stable was under a cloud. Bred to appreciate this distance but still has a lot to prove. BP= 9/1

SUMMARY
A fascinating handicap in which it is worth siding with the favourite Ameeq who is good value and come from a team in hot form.

GOOD LUCK
