GOING AT NEWMARKET CHANGED TO "GOOD"
Following 5mm of rain this afternoon (11mm in 24 hours), the going on the July Course ahead of next week's July Meeting has been changed to GOOD. The forecast is for a dry morning tomorrow (Saturday), but with more showers, some heavy, expected in the afternoon. Thereafter predominantly dry, warm weather is forecast through to the end of the
July Meeting next Thursday.
SULAMANI HEADS 11 LEFT IN PRINCESS OF WALES'S cantorodds.com STAKES
SULAMANI, the 2002 French Derby (Group 1) winner, heads 11 confirmations for the £100,000 Princess of Wales's cantorodds.com Stakes (Group 2), highlight of the second day of the July Meeting next Wednesday (7th July). This could be the ideal stepping stone for the Godolphin-owned horse en route to another crack at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Group 1) at Ascot later this month, a race he was second in last year.
Other notable confirmations include HIGH ACCOLADE, who chased home Doyen in the Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) at Royal Ascot, GAMUT, who won the Jockey Club Stakes (Group 2) at the UltimateBet.com Guineas Festival, and BANDARI, who won the betfair.com Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Group 3) at Sandown Park in May.
"This promises to be a very high-class renewal of the Princess of Wales's cantorodds.com Stakes," commented Newmarket's Clerk of the Course, Michael Prosser. "To have the prospect of a top-class horse like SULAMANI running in the race is tremendous news."
GROUND & WEATHER UPDATE
Following 6mm of rain on Thursday, the going on the July Course remains GOOD-TO-FIRM. Further heavy showers are likely today and tomorrow. Thereafter, any showers are expected to be very light, with warm, predominantly dry weather forecast for the duration of the July Meeting itself.
Clerk of the Course, Michael Prosser, said: "The rain we had yesterday, which was the first significant rainfall for nine days, was very welcome. If we get a further shower or two today and tomorrow that would be ideal, particularly with the forecast for predominantly dry, warm weather next week."
PRESS PACK CORRECTION
The race times for the first day of the July Meeting on Tuesday printed in the Press Pack sent out earlier this week were wrong. Many apologies for this. The correct running order is below. Please note also that the Princess of Wales's cantorodds.com Stakes is run over 1m 4f and not as in the original Pack.

EXCITING SATURDAY EVENING ACTION AT SALISBURY IN JULY
Inaugural Saturday evening fixtures at Wiltshire's racecourse
July sees two exciting evening fixtures at Salisbury racecourse, on Saturday, July 10 and Saturday, July 24.
This is the first time ever that racing has taken place at Wiltshire's racecourse on a Saturday evening with the fixtures transferred from their traditional Friday slots.
Saturday, July 10, sees the return of the hugely popular LADIES' EVENING at Salisbury and offers the perfect opportunity for women to dress up in their finest attire with great prizes on offer for those judged to be the best dressed.
Action gets underway on July 10 with the CARNARVON AMATEUR RIDERS' HANDICAP (6.35pm) and runs through to the FTX LOGISTICS HANDICAP (9.05pm). The feature race of the evening is the £25,000-added EBF LADIES EVENING CLASSIFIED STAKES (8.35pm), a seven-furlong contest for three-year-olds. Last season Mubeen, trained in Newmarket by Ed Dunlop, was successful in this event and has subsequently gone on to a successful career in Dubai, winning a £54,000 handicap in March.
The main supporting race is the £10,000-added JACKSONS GROUP MERCEDES-BENZ RATED STAKES (8.05pm), a mile contest for three-year-olds.
Completing the six-race card on July 10 are the PETER & SARAH GRUBB WEDDING ANNIVERSARY NOVICE AUCTION STAKES (7.05pm) and the GEORGE SMITH HORSEBOXES EBF MAIDEN STAKES (7.35pm).
Saturday, July 24, also sees a six-race programme with the highlight being the £10,000-added CITY CABS SALISBURY RATED FILLIES' STAKES (8.50pm), run over seven furlongs for three-year-olds. Wantage trainer Henry Candy sent out Penelewey to victory 12 months ago, with the Groom Dancer filly going on to triumph in a Newmarket handicap later in the season.
Opening the evening is the £8,000 SAFFIE JOSEPH & SONS MAIDEN STAKES (6.20pm), a six-furlong race for two-year-olds. The Mick Channon-trained Zafeen took this contest in 2002 and the following season proved himself a colt of the very highest order when successful the Group One St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The remaining four races on July 24 are the FONTHILL STUD MAIDEN STAKES (6.50pm), the MANOR FARM MEATS PREMIER CLAIMING STAKES (7.20pm), the APPROACH VAUXHALL HANDICAP (7.50pm) and the WESTERN DAILY PRESS HANDICAP (8.20pm).
Both evenigs will feature a big screen to help racegoers keep up with all the action and full colour racecards will also be available. Gates open at 4.30pm on both days.
Jeremy Martin, Clerk of the Course and General Manager at Salisbury, commented: "We are very much looking forward to our first Saturday evening fixtures at Salisbury later this month. Hopefully, they will prove to be an even greater success than when they were held on a Friday.
"The quality of racing at Salisbury continues to improve. Our four days of racing in June saw some informative maidens while the Godolphin operation scored with all three of their runners during the month. There was also an impressive victory by the progressive sprinter and July Cup contender Moss Vale in the Listed Axminster Carpets Cathedral Stakes."
Admission prices for both fixtures in July are Members £16, Tattersalls £10 and Course £5 and, as at all Salisbury's meetings, accompanied children under 16 are admitted FREE.
