TODAY'S GOING

MARKET RASEN - Good to firm, good in places

NEWCASTLE - Good to firm, firm in places

SANDOWN - Good

YESTERDAY'S SANDOWN ACTION

Giant's Causeway, sent off at 8/1, won a thrilling Group One Coral-Eclipse at Sandown today, just getting the better of Kalanisi by a short-head close home in a driving finish.

Shiva came third, with Sakhee fourth, Fantastic Light fifth, Gold Academy sixth, Border Arrow seventh and Sun Charm last.

The Godolphin pacemaker Sun Charm failed to do his work until after two furlongs and Sakhee set a slow early pace. Plenty of horses had a chance at the two-furlong marker but the speed horses Giant's Causeway and Kalanisi emerged on top.

George Duffield, substituting for in the injured Michael Kinane on the winner, said: "This is a serious horse - he wants to win and stick his head out."

Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien commented: "His courage has always been his strong point but when he hits the front he usually thinks he has done enough.
"The trip was no problem - he is a very high-class horse. He's relaxed and lazy at home - he does what he has to do."
