The St. Leger is the only gap in Sir Michael Stoute's extensive roll of honour and Sky Bet quote 6/4 for the nine-time champion trainer to break his duck this year with a first win in the oldest Classic.
Sir Michael Stoute's horses dominate the ante post market, with Derby runner-up, Tartan Bearer, and Queen's Vase winner, Patkai, heading the betting as 4/1 joint favourites and King Edward VII Stakes runner-up, Conduit, 6/1 third favourite. With such a strong hand, Stoute is quoted at 7/1 to train the first two home and 25/1 to train an unprecedented first, second and third.
Sky Bet spokesman, Michael Shinners, said, "After so many near misses, this looks to be Sir Michael Stoute's best chance yet of getting a winner, with the first three in the betting all from his yard."
