TIMEFORM RATE AUTHORIZED AS JOINT-BEST DERBY WINNER SINCE 1991
Authorized has been given a rating of 132 by Timeform for his five-length success under Frankie Dettori at Epsom on Saturday. This gives him equal billing with Galileo, who landed the Derby in 2001. The pair are Timeform’s best Derby winners since Generous, who posted a form figure of 135 in 1991.
Authorized’s timefigure is the best in that period at 131, ahead of Commander in Chief who posted 130 in 1993.
Authorized landed proceedings in a manner which suggested he might go on to prove an outstanding classic winner, although it remains to be seen how effective he’ll prove under significantly quicker conditions.
Oaks winner Light Shift also impressed the Timeform team, returning a form figure of 124 (backed up by a timefigure of 122), equal to Ouija Board’s performance in the winning the Oaks in 2004. This makes Henry Cecil’s filly the joint-best Oaks winner since User Friendly in 1992.
