Arena Leisure, the owner of Doncaster Racecourse in partnership with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, is delighted to announce that Adam Waterworth has been appointed as Managing Director at Doncaster Racecourse. He will take up the role next month.

Adam, 35, has been Managing Director of Haydock Park Racecourse for the last six years and brings a wealth of experience in racecourse management gained during an impeccable career which has seen him move swiftly up through the ranks within Racecourse Holdings Trust (RHT).

Adam began his racing career as one of the first ever students on the Jockey Club Graduate course. He then spent time training at Cheltenham under Edward Gillespie, where his potential was spotted and Adam joined RHT on a permanent basis. Adam became General Manager at Huntington Racecourse in 1993, where he remained for seven years. Adam's career at RHT has also included a spell overseeing all of RHT's smaller courses before successfully taking over the reins at Haydock Park.

Adam Waterworth commented: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at RHT, especially the last six years at Haydock Park.

"The time is now right, however, to take on a whole new challenge.

"I am really looking forward to leading the team at Doncaster Racecourse and helping firstly to deliver this most exciting development project and then to ensure that Doncaster Racecourse returns to its position as one of the UK's pre-eminent racecourses."

Ian Renton, Arena Leisure's Racing Director, said: "I am delighted that someone of the calibre of Adam Waterworth has agreed to join Arena Leisure and I have no doubt that he will help us to deliver the tremendous opportunity that Doncaster Racecourse represents."

Bill Whittle, Chairman of Haydock Park, added: "Adam has made a valuable contribution at Haydock Park in its progressive development during his time with us and leaves with our good wishes."
