GRASSICK PLANNING TO SEND OVER THREE ROYAL RAIDERS

Michael Grassick is hoping to be triple-handed at Royal Ascot next week.

The Curragh-based handler plans to run Just Special in the Cork and Orrery, Lime Gardens in the Ribblesdale Stakes and Katherine Seymour in the Coronation Stakes - if she recovers in time from a cut sustained in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

Grassick has been successful at the last two Royal meetings, with San Sebastian taking the Ascot Stakes and Queen Alexandra Stakes.

INDEPENDENT RACECOURSE GROUP FORMED

The 10 racecourses who sold their media rights to GG-Media, rather than sign up to the Go Racing package, have formed a new association - the Independent Racecourse Group.

The10 tracks involved are: Exeter, Fakenham, Hexham, Kelso, Leicester, Perth, Sedgefield, Stratford, Taunton and Towcester.

Tim Hale, of Exeter racecourse, is chairman of the IRG with Captain Nick Lees, of Leicester and Stratford, the vice-chairman.

With the exception of Sedgefield, all of the courses involved are independent.

Sedgefield recently became part of Sir Stan Clarke's Northern Racing empire but the County Durham track's managing director Simon Clarke has agreed to work the IRG in its dealings with GG-Media.

Commenting on the formantion of the new group, Tim Hale said: "Our group is fully supportive and intends to work with the Racecourse Association.

"We intend to make a serious contribution to racing and to improve prize money at all our racecourses."
