RACING VILLAGE AT ROYAL SHOW
The British Horseracing Board will have a "racing village" at this year's Royal Show at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. The show runs from July 3 to July 6.
"Racing in the New Millennium" will be the theme of the BHB village and the main emphasis will be on how new technology will affect racing in the 21st century. Visitors will be able to surf the Internet at the Racing Post Internet Cafe and also "experience" riding a galloping racehorse or take a first fence fall in the Grand National.
Visitors will also be able to visit an exhibition of famous trophies and racing silks and to racing celebrities and jockeys.
Ginny Lemarie, Marketing Executive for the BHB commented: "We hope that visitors to the Racing Village-whether they are racing fanatics or complete novices-will learn a little bit more about the sport and thoroughly enjoy themselves in the process."
BUMPER ROYAL ASCOT COVERAGE ON BBC
This year's BBC Royal Ascot coverage will be the biggest outside racing broadcast in the world with 27 cameras providing images that will be sent to over 40 countries - 10 more than last year.
A high-level mobile camera will be suspended on wires over a distance of 650m opposite the main Grandstands leading down to the winning post.
Malcolm Kemp, Executive Producer for Royal Ascot stated: "This is a feature which has never been tried before in television coverage of horse racing. Not only will this give spectacular tracking shots of the horses as they race but will also capture the excitement of the fantastic Royal Ascot crowds cheering the horses home."
On each day of Royal Ascot there will be a preview programme called First Show at 10.30am each morning on BBC One.
MINISTER TO ADDRESS BHB MEETING

The BHB's Annual Report will also be published tomorrow.
