HIGH HEELED SET FOR SARISKA REMATCH IN THE INVESTEC CORONATION CUP

BOULD MOVER ONE OF 32 ON COURSE FOR INVESTEC ENTREPRENEURIAL CLASS ‘DASH’

High Heeled (14/1with totesport) is set to make her seasonal reappearance in a fantastic renewal of the £225,000 Group One Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom Downs on Investec Ladies Day, Friday, June 4, day one of the Investec Derby Festival.

The John Gosden-trained filly is among 16 exciting entries remaining for the mile and a half contest after yesterday’s scratchings stage, alongside 5/2 favourite Sariska, behind whom she finished third in last year’s Investec Oaks when trained by Barry Hills.

The duo have not crossed paths since that day, with Sariska going on to an imperious triumph in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh and High Heeled storming to a six-length victory in the Group Three totesport.com St Simon Stakes at Newbury in October, with recent Ormonde Stakes winner Harbinger back in third.

The two fillies were due to meet in the Group Two totesport.com Middleton Stakes over 10 furlongs at York on May 13, but High Heeled was pulled out, leaving Sariska to land the spoils from last season’s Investec Oaks runner-up and Breeders’ Cup heroine Midday.

High Heeled switched to Gosden’s Newmarket yard after being sold for 600,000 guineas at Tattersalls in November and the High Chaparral filly now races for owners George Strawbridge and James Wigan.

Gosden revealed today: “High Heeled is in good form and we wanted to run her in the Middleton Stakes at York last week but the ground came up too fast for her there.

“We are looking at the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom because she has run well on the track and it is just a question of the ground being right on the day. We are a little bit limited as regards options for a filly whose best form is with some cut in the ground.

“The ground was pretty testing when she beat Harbinger at Newbury last year and she goes through it easily, so that is what we are hoping for.”

The top-class entry for the Investec Coronation Cup also includes last year’s impressive Irish Derby victor Fame And Glory (11/4), who chased home Sea The Stars when second in the 2009 Investec Derby. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt defeated Recharge (25/1) by five lengths in the Group Three Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on May 3.

O’Brien has a total of three horses going forward, the others being Age Of Aquarius (6/1) and Dixie Music (66/1).

Recharge, one of five Irish-trained entries, is also among the entries and could take his chance if connections are pleased with his effort in the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on May 23, a race won by his dam, Rebelline.

Trainer Kevin Prendergast said: “He is going to the Tattersalls Gold Cup and we will have to see how he gets on before deciding about Epsom.

“He is working well and has come on a bit, but he would have to if he is to take on Fame And Glory again. He has run twice this season and he ran very well to finish second both times. He is a gross horse and is probably fitter now than he has been at any time in the past year.”

Mick Channon-trained Youmzain (8/1), runner-up in the past two renewals of the Investec Coronation Cup, is set to bid for victory, while Mark Johnston has engaged fellow Group One winner Jukebox Jury (11/1), successful in the Group Two Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month.

Godolphin has four horses remaining with three of those being in the care of Saeed bin Suroor. Kite Wood (9/1) was runner-up in the Group One St Leger last term, while Cutlass Bay (6/1) won the Group One Prix Ganay for previous handler Andre Fabre on May 2, and Cavalryman (7/1) defeated Age Of Aquarius to win the Group One Grand Prix de Paris before finishing third to Sea The Stars in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October.

Mahmood Al Zarooni trains the other Godolphin entry, Group One winner Eastern Anthem (20/1).

South Easter (25/1), third to Debussy in the Group Three Huxley Stakes at Chester on May 6, is owned by Markus Jooste and Investec’s co-founder and managing director Bernard Kantor, while the other remaining horses are Eastern Aria (50/1), Clowance (33/1) and Bashkirov (100/1).

Investec Coronation Cup - totesport bet: 5/2 Sariska, 11/4 Fame And Glory, 6 Age Of Aquarius, Cutlass Bay, 7 Cavalryman, 8 Youmzain, 9 Kite Wood, 11 Jukebox Jury, 14 High Heeled, 20 Eastern Anthem, 25 Recharge, South Easter, 33 Clowance, 50 Eastern Aria, 66 Dixie Music, 100 Bashkirov.

BOULD MOVER AMONG 32 GOING FORWARD FOR INVESTEC ENTREPRENEURIAL CLASS ‘DASH’

Roger Curtis is hoping Bould Mover (9st 6lb) can take in the £75,000 Investec Entrepreneurial Class ‘Dash’ at Epsom Downs on Investec Derby Day, Saturday, June 5, before returning to Pattern company later in the season.

The three-year-old, one of 32 remaining entries after yesterday’s scratchings stage, heads to the world’s fastest five furlongs for his seasonal debut, having shown high-class sprint form as a juvenile in 2009, including when runner-up to Sand Vixen in the Group Two Flying Childers Stakes over the distance at Doncaster in September.

Curtis reported: “The plan at the moment is for Bould Mover to head to Epsom Downs. He has done really well over the winter and he has strengthened up into a lovely three-year-old.

“He’s not a slow horse and his form last year was very good, particularly his second in the Flying Childers Stakes, when the winner broke the track record.

“We were expecting him to be sold to the US last summer, so the owners ran him twice at Glorious Goodwood because they thought he was going, but the deal fell through and he ended up going to Doncaster instead.

“If he goes the right way, we are hoping that he could be a Group horse again this season. After Epsom, we are looking at the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot - I think he deserves a tilt at some of the big sprints.”

The Alan Berry-trained Look Busy, winner of the Group Two Temple Stakes last season, heads the weights on 9st 10lb.

‘Sprint King’ Dandy Nicholls, successful in four of the last nine renewals, has seven potential contenders in last year’s winner Indian Trail (8st 5lb), Masta Plasta (9st 7lb), Striking Spirit (9st 1lb), Strike Up The Band (9st 3lb), City Dancer (8st 8lb), Crimea (8st 5lb) and Wotashirtfull (8st 1lb).

Kevin Ryan saddled subsequent Group One winner Desert Lord to success in 2006 and has Le Torreador (9st 1lb), Masamah (9st 1lb), Old Joe Said (8st 13lb), Jargelle (8st 12lb) and Bajan Tryst (8st 8lb).

Moorhouse Lad (9st 3lb), runner-up in 2007, could represent Bryan Smart, who also has recent Thirsk winner Sirenuse (8st 3lb) engaged, while Tim Easterby may run last year’s runner-up Captain Dunne (9st 5lb).

Others of note include the John Quinn-trained Duchess Dora (8st 10lb), Hawkeyethenoo (8st 8lb) from the Jim Goldie yard, Fathom Five (9st), trained by Chris Wall, and the David Barron-trained pair of Archers Road (8st 9lb) and Jaconet (8st 12lb).
