AMY STARKEY APPOINTED MANAGING DIRECTOR AT KEMPTON PARK
Jockey Club Racecourses is pleased to announce that Amy Starkey has been appointed Managing Director at Kempton Park with effect from 1st August.
Currently Managing Director at fellow Jockey Club Racecourse Huntingdon, Starkey succeeds Paul Fisher, who was recently appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer for Jockey Club Racecourses.
Previously Commercial Manager for Northern Racing at Sedgefield, Amy Starkey became the youngest racecourse manager in Britain when she joined Jockey Club Racecourses three years ago and took on her current role at Huntingdon. Starkey, now 27, developed a passion for horse racing as a teenager when she went to school beside York Racecourse. While at university in Leeds, she worked at bookmakers William Hill and Skybet before winning a place on the British Horseracing Board's graduate programme which created the opportunity to move into racecourse management.
Mike Street, Chairman of Kempton Park, said: "We are delighted that Amy will be joining us as Managing Director. She impressed us with what she has achieved in her career to date and at Huntingdon in particular. With her energy and enterprise, she is tailor made for Kempton and the team are looking forward to her arrival in August."
Amy Starkey, said: "To be offered the role of Managing Director at Kempton Park is a great opportunity and one that I am very excited about. It will be a wrench to leave Huntingdon where I have enjoyed three memorable years, but the challenge offered by the role at Kempton was too good to turn down. I am excited by the prospect of overseeing the continuing progress and development of the all weather and floodlit programme, as well as staging the track's established jump racing fixtures, including one of the landmark events in the sporting calendar, Kempton Park on Boxing Day."
Paul Fisher, Chief Operating Officer, added: "Amy has done an excellent job at Huntingdon and the Kempton Park Board and I are extremely confident that she will bring that energy and passion to her new role. Her appointment means that we will be looking for a new Managing Director at Huntingdon and that process is already under -way."
The Kempton Park Board also announced two promotions for existing members of staff. Brian Clifford has been given the additional responsibility as Director of both Racing and Racecourse Development. Phil White, formerly Sales Manager, has been invited to join the Kempton Park Board as Sales Director.
