TICKETS ON SALE FOR SUMMER RACING AT GREAT LEIGHS

Tickets for all Great Leighs’ race meetings are now on sale. They can be purchased on-line (www.greatleighs.com ) or by phoning 01245 362412.

Particular features of the summer are “Ascot at Great Leighs” on Thursday June 19 – when race-goers can enjoy watching live action from Ladies Day at the Royal meeting on our giant screens and then stay on for evening racing at Great Leighs itself – and the three-festival from August 26-28 which offers the best prize-money at Great Leighs so far.

Advance purchase is essential for all forthcoming summer race meetings (May 28-29, June 16 and 26 and July 15 and 22) for there is no admission at the gate.

Tickets for May 28-29, the first meeting officially open to the public, are still available at £20.

The VIP hospitality package for the May 29 meeting has now sold out.

For all other race meetings, standard entry tickets are available from £15 (winter) to £18 (summer), with a further 10% discount for booking on-line.

Great Leighs is the first new racecourse in the UK since 1927 and, since its first fixture on April 20, it has staged six race meetings in front of an invited audience of racing industry professionals and guests. The circuit itself has won rave reviews. Joint champion jockeys Jamie Spencer and Seb Sanders have ridden at nearly every meeting so far, and Classic-winning trainer John Gosden called it “the best all-weather racecourse in the UK, and as good as anything anywhere else in the world.”

Shuttle bus service

Racegoers arriving by bus or on foot from the surrounding villages are invited to use the free shuttle bus that will operate on a loop between the “old” London Road and the main racecourse entrance, avoiding the need to cross the Great Leighs bypass at the county council-designated surface crossing near Moulsham Hall roundabout. The shuttle bus will pick up and drop off from a collection point about 50 yards north of the roundabout.

First runs a scheduled bus service from Chelmsford bus/rail station to the “old” London Road every half hour, and the journey takes 28 minutes.
