BP= the best price at the time of writing

1) 130568 Kalca Mome Philip Hobbs 10-11-12 Richard Johnson
Plenty of miles on the clock but proved himself no slouch this season when beating Voy Por Ustedes at Cheltenham in November. Has raced over two and a half miles for the last two races, which is longer than his best. Dropped a couple of pounds but may need to drop further in the handicap. BP= 16/1

2) 6150-0 Priors Dale Emma Lavelle 8-11-12 Noel Fehily
Three-time chase winner as a novice last season and only had one start this campaign, over hurdles at Kempton in December. His handicap mark looks tough and he must have had problems. Best watched. BP= 14/1

3) 313P10 Mister Quasimodo Colin Tizzard 8-11-11b Joe Tizzard
Excuses for unplaced effort at Cheltenham last time, when hampered by loose horse, and had previously looked an improver with some good jumping displays. Will be up with the early pace and one of the less exposed runners. Trainer in good form. BP= 4/1

4) 41241P King Louis Richard Rowe 7-11-02 Dominic Elsworth
Thought good enough to take his chance in Grade One novice chase at Aintree but totally outclassed and now back in more realistic company. But he stll may not be good enough. BP= 8/1

5) -21PP7 Tidal Fury Jonathan Jay 6-11-01 Timmy Murphy
Has been campaigned imaginatively, running in France and Ireland as well as here, with limited success this term. Tailed off on only start in a handicap chase this season. Has done best in France and is a talented performer at best. Likes to be up with the pace. Worth taking a chance with. BP= 11/1

6) 1401-5 Misty Dancer Venetia Williams 9-11-00 Sam Thomas
Useful Flat performer and fifth on his only jump start this season in a handicap chase at Warwick in February. Now two pounds lower and one of the more likelier winners back down in trip. Useful novice last season. BP= 7/2

7) 212P49 Helen Wood David Pipe 5-10-08b Tom Scudamore
Only five and looked useful when winning chase over slightly further at Exeter in December. Hasn’t really progressed since then and blinkers had little effect on latest start, but trainer in flying form and cannot rule out completely. Not the best of jumpers but is back to his best sort of trip. BP= 15/2

8) 242235 Its Crucial Nigel Twiston-Davies 8-10-00 Paddy Brennan
Holds few secrets form handicapper and has been model of consistency this term without getting his head in front. Will probably run his race once again, but difficult to see where necessary improvement will come from against some less exposed rivals but you never know. BP= 6/1

9) 3P1PP1 Major Euro Simon Gilmore 11-10-00 Tom Messenger(3)
Hasn’t been out of the first three on his completed starts this term, but not the easiest to predict. Has won his last two starts at Newbury which is now his favourite course but he races off a 12lb higher mark than last time out. Still given the others, he looks a big price back at Newbury. BP= 12/1

Summary
A tricky handicap where Tidal Bay looks exceptional and good value each-way.
