CREATURE COMFORTS CHALLENGE TO REWARD HIGHEST PRICED WINNER

Dream holiday for two awaits lucky stable lad

Creature Comforts, who make high performance feed and bedding for horses, will be sending one lucky stable lad or girl on an all-inclusive week for two to the Canary Islands in November.

The Creature Comforts Challenge hinges on which lad or girl looks after the winner with the longest starting price during the 2004 season at Newmarket which kicks off with the Craven Meeting tomorrow.

In addition to this special competition, Creature Comforts are sponsoring the £7,000 Creature Comforts Maiden Stakes this Thursday. As a special extra incentive, every trainer with a runner will receive a free pallet (42 bales) of Premium Pine Flakes worth £170, while the winning trainer will receive eight pallets worth over £1,300.

Premium pine flakes are a revolutionary new bedding made from top quality timber, the cleanest large pine flakes available in the UK. They were launched last October and have already been adopted by high profile trainers like Sir Michael Stoute and Barry Hills, as well as being used in Newmarket's racecourse stables.

"The Creature Comforts Challenge will create a lot of interest around big outsiders that win at Newmarket this season, with the strong likelihood that a lad or girl from one of Britain's smaller stables will be heading off for a dream holiday in November," commented Newmarket's Managing Director, Lisa Hancock. "If someone has a 33-1 or 40-1 winner this week, maybe they can start dreaming of a week in the sun - as long as a 50-1 winner doesn't pop up later in the season!

"We're delighted to welcome back Creature Comforts for a second year of race sponsorship and from what I've heard of their amazing new bedding, the trainers with runners in the Creature Comforts Maiden on Thursday will be in for a very pleasant surprise when their free pallet arrives soon afterwards!"

RULES
1. The trainer of the longest priced winner will be asked to nominate the lad or girl to receive the prize.
2. In the event of a tie for the longest priced winner, the following criteria will apply:
i) The horse which won by the biggest distance.

ii) If there is still a tie, the one that beat the largest field of runners.
iii) If there is still a tie, the one which won the most prize money in winning its Newmarket race.

The sale, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (ET), will include 265 two-year-old colts and fillies. If history repeats itself, some talented youngsters being offered at Keeneland are sure to become some of the world's most accomplished runners.

Prospective buyers should be pleased with the list of sires that will be represented at this year's auction. Anees, Belong to Me, Boston Harbor, Cat Thief, Chester House, Distorted Humor, Dixie Union, Forestry, Fusaichi Pegasus, Giant's Causeway, Gone West, Grand Slam, Lemon Drop Kid, Old Trieste, Pulpit, Seattle Slew, Seeking the Gold, Silver Charm, Stephen Got Even, Stravinsky, Thunder Gulch, Unbridled, Unbridled Song, Wild Rush and Yankee Victor all have progeny catalogued.

"I think this is one of the better catalogues we've ever had," said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland's Director of Sales. "The horses performed well in the first breeze show and hopefully they will come back and work well today. The right people are here and I'm sure they will find nice horses to fill their orders."
