NO VALUE BETTING COLUMN

Apologies for there being no value betting column for the second Saturday running - the Flat form lines are yet to be properly established while the jump ones are getting a bit stretched.

Normal service will be resumed next Saturday.

INTERCONTINENTAL NOW 5-1 FOR 1,000 GUINEAS

Intercontinental is 5-1 (from 9-1) with Coral for next month's Sagitta 1,000 Guineas following her win at Maisons-Laffitte yesterday afternoon.

"The French-trained pair of Six Perfections and Intercontinental have both proved their well-being this season, and with a cloud hanging over the Newmarket horses, the cross-Channel raiders look to hold all the aces in the 1,000 Guineas," said Coral's David Stevens.

In the opening colt's Classic, the news that Trade Fair is likely to be absent has seen Hold That Tiger trimmed to 7-4 (from 9-4) at the head of Coral's Sagitta 2,000 Guineas betting.

STUDENT AIMS TO BECOME THIRD BIGGEST SMALL STAKING SCOOP6 WINNER EVER

A student from Norton near Stockton-on-Tees has the chance to become the third biggest small-staking winner of the Scoop6 in the bet's history today when he tackles the bonus race in an attempt to take his total winnings to more than £300,000.

Norman Evans (46), from Norton near Stockton-on-Tees was the only winner of the bet last Saturday after investing just £4 on the Scoop6 at a Reg Boyle shop in Norton. Married to Kerry Jayne, with two children, Evans is currently a second-year mature student studying Bio Medical Science at Durham University.

Evans won £163,191on the bet last Saturday and can now add a further £140,394 to his winnings by picking the winner of the 3.05pm at Kempton today and in doing so earn himself third place on the Scoop6 Rich List.

"For one day Evans will cease becoming a student of Bio Medical Science and instead become a student of the form as he tries to find the winner of the bonus race at Kempton," said Tote spokesman Jeremy Scott.

"If recent form lines are anything to go by then Evans has an outstanding chance as we already have one representative from Stockton-on-Tees on the Scoop6 rich list, an anonymous punter who landed the Win and Bonus Prize fund just before new year to earn himself a total of £175,164."

Saturday's Scoop6 legs are:

leg 1 - 1.40 Newton Abbot
leg 2 - 2.00 Kempton
leg 3 - 2.30 Kempton
leg 4 - 2.45 Newton Abbot
leg 5 - 3.05 Kempton
leg 6 - 3.40 Kempton
