SCOOP6 TURNOVER SET TO TOP £50 MILLION THIS SATURDAY

Turnover over the lifetime of the Scoop6 will hit a milestone this Saturday, with the total amount bet into the pools since the bet was launched just under four years ago topping the £50million mark!

A rollover of £105,217 starts off the Win fund pool while £115,548 lines the Bonus Prize fund.

"A lot has happened over the last £50 million of Scoop6, and one thing the bet has proved to be is a great leveller with winners from all backgrounds, of all ages and from all corners of the country," said Tote spokesman Jeremy Scott.

"Our biggest ever Scoop6 day came last August when over £1.37million was bet into the pools! In terms of dividends returned from that £50million, we've seen a record Win fund dividend of more than £917,000 a Bonus Prize fund divided of £705,000 while the Place dividend has paid more than £1,000 on 29 occasions including a record of £7,216."

"With some good rollover momentum benefiting the Scoop6 for the first time in a while we're expecting to see a few extra Scoop6 players this Saturday with a single winner landing the Win fund tomorrow and going on to pick up the Bonus Prize fund next week more than £300,000 better off."

MCLAUGHLIN LIKELY CHAMPION AFTER MAGNIFICENT FOUR TIMER

A magnificent four timer from trainer Kiaran McLaughlin at Nad Al Sheba last Thursday night has certainly sealed his return to the mantle of champion trainer of the United Arab Emirates.

Going into the meeting McLaughlin held a slight advantage over Satish Seemar however that trainer had strong claims on the evening's feature, the AED350,000 Nad Al Sheba Gold Cup where a win by new stable recruit Clodion would virtually seal the title for him.

However, with Clodion beaten into third place behind the Allan Smith-trained Kayseri, together with McLaughlin¹s four wins, the championship is headed back to Dubai Stables for the first time since the 1996/1997 season.

McLaughlin began the night on the brightest note when Babylon's Hero won the Kentucky Coffee Trophy however Seemar replied quickly with the win of Big Easy in the Purebred Arabian event for Amateur Riders.

However, McLaughlin was not to be denied when preparing Opportunist to win the National Bank of Dubai Cup, San Salvador the Tamim Trophy and Al Ash Hab, who brought up his sixth win of the season in the final race, the Jumeriah Star Trophy event.

Willie Supple rode the first winner while Tony McGlone benefited from the last three.

Jebel Ali trainer Allan Smith fought for the title all the way and his magnificent season was culminated with the victory of Kayseri in the Nad Al Sheba Gold Cup, the horse denying a brave Celtic Silence.

It was Kayseri's second run in the Emirates and his first since mid January but said after the race that the race had been foremost in plans for the horse.

"The race was always part of his programme for some time but we couldn't get a run for him," Smith said.

"We entered and declared a number of times but kept getting balloted out." Smith said that Kayseri may be campaigned in England during the Summer although at the back of his mind may be Flemington in November with the Nad Al Sheba Gold Cup fully qualifying the horse for the Melbourne Cup. Kayseri brought up a winning double for Smith, the trainer also preparing Walmooh to win the Connector Trophy for the Amateur Riders, the horse ridden by Smith's son Martin.

Kayseri is also certain to have secured Smith's stable jockey Gary Hind with his first UAE Jockeys' Championship, the win taking him eight clear of closest rival Wayne Smith with just three meetings of the season remaining.

English trainer Gillian Duffield continued her highly successful first season in the Emirates when Eau Royal won the AED200,000 UAE Arabian Derby.

Duffield has spent the season at Oasis Stables at Nad Al Sheba and her small team has recorded magnificent results, Eau Royal's victory being her ninth of the season from just 37 runners.

Eau Royal had won the first and third rounds of the Arabian Triple Crown prior to the UAE Arabian Derby while Monsieur Al Maury also provided the trainer with the Group I HH The President Cup at Abu Dhabi in February.

Comment: From the moment EAU ROYAL began racing in the Emirates this season he appeared to be a horse of some potential and he has fully justified those thoughts with this win in the second UAE Arabian Derby. There is no doubt that EAU ROYAL should have won the Al Asayl Championship when disappointed for a run in the straight and eventually finishing fifth and he showed that on his next run with a win in the opening round of the Arabian Triple Crown. He was beaten by ASHAAYA D'AROCO in the second round but rebounded to win the third with ASHAAYA D'AROCO fifth. He again proved too good for ASHAAYA D'AROCO in this, getting to the filly at the 300m and while the filly did continue to battle on, EAU ROYAL always appeared to have her measure and went on to win easily. EAU ROOYAL did drift in in the final stages causing ASHAAYA D'AROCO to suffer slight interference however EAU ROYAL had the race won and it made no difference to the result. CALIN DE MIRANDE, a maiden going into this and the Œveteran' of just two runs, showed his improvement with a fast finishing third and there are definitely races for him while CELESTIN continued to stay on after leading. BINT BELADY did appear in with a chance at the top of the straight but didn't run on as expected and eventually tired to finish a disappointing last. There can be no doubting the toughness of EAU ROYAL, prior to arriving in the Emirates he had campaigned through Italy, France and England and his season in the Emirates consisted of racing against the very best of his age. With wins in the opening and third rounds of the Arabian triple Crown and the UAE Arabian Derby, he is clearly the premiers four-year-old in the country.

Race Six: The Tamim Trophy 1,200m.

Thoroughbreds. NH & SH 3YOs+ 75-105.

Prizemoney: Dhs105,000. 1st: Dhs52,500. 2nd: Dhs25,200. 3rd: Dhs14,700. 4th: Dhs9,450. 5th: Dhs3,150.

N/R: Rajjaaf (GB), Jasmim Da Noite (BRZ), Shaalayn (GB) [Late]. 15 ran. Margins: Sht hd, 9.25len, 2.25len. Time: 3:22.74. (Last 800m: 51.14).

Comment: KAYSERI was always going to come on a great deal for his only other run in the Emirates when a good fifth in the Al Rashidiya Prep in January the question was whether not having a run in just on three months would count against him when it mattered in this Nad Al Sheba Gold Cup. He showed that the absence from competition didn't prevent him from showing his best as he held off a brave CELTIC SILENCE in the final 200m to win this third running of the Nad Al Sheba Gold Cup. KAYSERI is obviously a horse that races well fresh and has a lot of heart as well as ability and he refused to be beaten in the final 200m. CELTIC SILENCE, who led the Dubai Sheema Classic field for a long way on his last start, was ridden back in the field here and was given a perfect ride by Richard Mullen however in the end, the fact that he had to give a horse of the caliber of KAYERSI six kilograms made the difference. Despite this being the slowest of the three Nad Al Sheba Gold Cups, there was a fair deal of speed on in the early and middle stages and as those leaders got tired, it allowed those back in the field to improve without having to do much work. KAYSERI was always prominent and appeared to be travelling best of all turning for home however CELTIC SILENCE was looming as a distinct threat as was CLODION. However, after getting to the front KAYSERI refused to be denied and as hard as CELTIC SILENCE came at him the harder KAYSERI replied and in the end denied the second horse by a short head. CLODION was over nine lengths away in third with MURRAY improving on his only previous effort in the Emirates for fourth. The field was well spread out at the finish however the first two appears horses of some quality and there is no doubt KAYSERI can go right on with this and can improve further heading into 2003/2004.

Race Eight: The Jumeria Star Trophy 1,800m.

Thoroughbreds. NH & SH 3YOs+ 70-95.

Prizemoney: Dhs95,000. 1st: Dhs47,500. 2nd: Dhs22,800. 3rd: Dhs13,300. 4th: Dhs8,550. 5th: Dhs2,850.
