BP= the best price at the time of writing

1)(7) 21301- ALFIE FLITS Alan Swinbank 5-9-00 Jamie Spencer
Former classy bumper runner who posted an impressive victory in a 12-furlong Listed company at Windsor on turf in November and has proved himself over shorter distances. Makes his Polytrack and seasonal debut but he possesses plenty of ability and his sire’s progeny usually relish the surface. BP= 11/2

2)(1) 012(2)-(2) BLUE BAJAN Andy Turnell 5-9-00 Michael Hills
Progressive handicapper on turf last term who was a good second in the Cambridgeshire. Narrowly beaten in two course and distance Listed contests since. Hold up style of racing can cause problems as it did on his latest outing here behind Cusoon. Big chance if things fall right. BP= 5/1

3)(8) (5)-(0)00(0) BOO Karl Burke 5-9-00v Neil Callan
In fine form on the all-weather last winter and ran a good third in the John Smith’s Cup on turf at York in July. Out of form this winter including in three starts in Dubai. Eighth in this race last year and he will do well to improve on that this time around. BP= 66/1

4)(6) (5)(1)-650 CIMYLA Chris Wall 6-9-00 George Baker
Not in the best of form racing on Turf in Dubai this winter but easily held Speedy Sam over nine furlongs at Wolverhampton in November. Has won five of six Ploytrack starts with his only defeat coming when fifth in this contest last year. Another hold-up horse who needs luck on his side. BP= 10/1

5)(3) (1)(1)-(2)(2)(1) CUSOON Gary Moore 5-9-00 Jimmy Fortune
Only once out of the first two in eight Polytrack starts and has won four from six this winter. Broke the track record when just holding Blue Bajan over the course and distance last month. Enjoyed first run that day but his record speaks for itself and he should be thereabouts at the finish. Has a decent burst of speed mid-race and trainer still in good form. BP= 8/1

6)(4) 40(1)-(1)(1) GENTLEMAN’S DEAL Mick Easterby 6-9-00 Paul Mulrennan
Classically-bred individual who is unbeaten in six all-weather starts. Held Grand Passion in a mile Kempton Listed contest in February. First start at Lingfield and has only once attempted 10 furlongs but no firm reason to assume either will be a hindrance but still worth opposing. BP= 5/1

7)(2) 53(5)-(2)(0) GRAND PASSION Geoff Wragg 7-9-00
Listed winner over the course and distance and a regular in this event. Runner-up last year but this is arguably the best-ever renewal and doubts persist after a lacklustre last of eight behind Cusoon in the trial here in February. Had his chance last year. BP = 18/1

8)(10) -(1)(0)433 HATTAN Clive Brittain 5-9-00 Seb Sanders
Group One placed in November and showed a liking for Polytrack when landing a conditions event over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in January. Posted a couple of excellent efforts on Turf in Dubai handicaps last month and a reproduction of that form would give him a good chance. Only two wins from 23 starts. BP= 10/1

9)(9) 1102-1 ILLUSTRIOUS BLUE William Knight 4-9-00 Paul Doe
Has won five from eight starts since joining current yard and saw off a pair of classy Group race performers to take a nine-furlong Nad Al Sheba Turf handicap in February. Failed to win in three Polytrack starts for previous trainer so there must be some doubt about the surface. BP= 6/1

10)(12) 3-(1)(1)(1)(3) MIGHTY Jane Chapple-Hyam 4-9-00 John Egan
Progressive for new connections and landed a course and distance hat-trick on February 10, before finishing third to Cusoon in the trial for this race last month when he might have been expected to do a bit better. Cannot be dismissed. BP= 12/1

11)(5) (1)-(4)(4)(4)(1) ORCHARD SUPREME Richard Hannon 4-9-00 Richard Hughes
Polytrack specialist over shorter trips with five Lingfield successes to his name. Landed the Lincoln trial at Wolverhampton earlier this month but this step up in class and distance may find him out. BP= 16/1

12)(11) (1)-(2)03(5) SPEEDY SAM Karl Burke 4-9-00 Pat Cosgrave
Has a course and distance win in the book but is held by several of these and will need to put up an improved effort to be in with a shout though he is a very big price. BP= 50/1

SUMMARY

The value selection is CUSOON who possesses a strong finishing burst and has already done us several good turns this year.
