The first northern hemisphere mares covered by Danroad at Hedgeholme Stud in Yorkshire have been scanned in foal. Among them is Demeter, a Diesis mare whose dam Nicer won the Irish 1,000 Guineas. She has already produced a winner.

Hedgeholme Stud’s owner Andrew Spalding said: “Danroad is proving extremely popular with our local breeders and he looks sure to cover a full book of 80 mares, including mares from France, Ireland, and all over the UK.

“The Hong Kong Breeders’ Club are so encouraged by the quality stock Danroad is producing in New Zealand that they are sending at least 20 recently-purchased mares to visit him at Hedgeholme Stud.”

Danroad, who stands at 16-1 hands, is a Group 2-winning son of the champion sire Danehill.
