SATIN KISS LANDS UAE OAKS

Satin Kiss, already a winner of the UAE 1000 Guineas, made all to win the US$250,000 Melbourne Racing Club UAE Oaks in impressive style on the tenth race of the 2005 Dubai International Racing Carnival on Thursday at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse.

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Frankie Dettori, Satin Kiss was always travelling well and cruised down the straight for a three and a quarter length win, from the Mazin Al Kurdi-trained pair of Littletown Bridge and Sun Sprinkles.

Dettori, who performed his trademark flying dismount in the winner's enclosure, said, "Satin Kiss broke quickly and was quickly in command, she loves the dirt, It has been a good start for us winning both the Guineas and the Oaks. She shows tremendous speed at home. She is beginning to relax which helps her get the trip."

The first of the Bin Suroor four-timer and the Dettori treble for the evening came with Dubai Wings who made virtually all to win the US$25,000 Classic Caulfield Cup for maidens over 1,400 metres. Dubai Wings, a son of Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, was clear of the field coming into the straight and ran on to an easy two length win from Satish Seemar's Portland Coup and the Awakening in third.

National Icon followed up from his victory at Nad Al Sheba on February 25th with a convincing win in the US$175,000 Melbourne Dubai Racing Alliance, an international rated stakes over 1,300 metres on the turf.

Trained by Dean Maroun, National Icon, the mount of Johannes Bekker, raced in third on the rail with the field taken along by the Mike de Kock-trained Hinterland. National Icon was taken off the rail and came between horses to lead 400 metres out and ran on to a two and a quarter length win from Al Nitak and So Will I.

Bin Suroor saddled his second winner of the evening when the Dettori-partnered Desert Destiny got up in the shadow of the line to win the US$175,000 Caulfield Cup Carnival Handicap over 1,600 metres on the turf.

Naahy made the running until the closing stages when the Richard Hills-ridden Iqte Saab took up the running and held on until Desert Destiny got up to win by three quarters of a length.

It was a battle to the line but the Macau raider Change The Grange, trained by M C Tam and ridden by Eddie Ahern, fought hard to win the US$175,000 Crown Towers Melbourne Trophy over 2,000 metres on the dirt.

Marbush, the mount of Pat Smullen, briefly led but Change The Grange showed a good turn of foot to get up and win by a head, with Deodatus a half length back in third.

Bianconi, trained by Seemar and ridden by Durcan, came with a late run to win the US$175,000 One Event Two Racemeetings Handicap by a neck from the fast finishing Boule d'Or with the Dettori-partnered Etesaal back in third.

Majors Cast, with Ahern in the saddle, could well be looking at an invite for Dubai World Cup night following his third Carnival win when claiming the US$175,000 Melbourne Racing Club Membership Handicap over 1,600 metres on the turf.

Majors Cast's trainer Jeremy Noseda has enjoyed a very successful Carnival, training six winners so far. Lundy's Lane, ridden by Ryan Moore, was a head back in second with Godolphin's Three Graces in third.

Razkalla and Kerrin McEvoy gave Godolphin and Saeed in Suroor a four timer when winning the final race of the evening, the US$175,000 Crown Promenade Hotel Trophy over the US$2,000,000 Dubai Sheema Classic (Gr.I) trip of 2,400 metres on the turf.

Mutasallil, the mount of Hills, led the field into the straight, but Razkalla began chasing soon into the straight and took the lead approaching 200 metre running on to a length and a quarter win. Fight Your Corner, the mount of Dettori, ran on late to take second a neck in front of Mutasallil.
