VC bet take over major sponsorship at Punchestown Festival
VC Bet has come on board as the new sponsors of the €100,000 Champion Two Mile Novices Hurdle at the Irish National Hunt Festival. The Grade 1 race, which takes place on Tuesday April 25th, the opening day of the Irish National Hunt Festival, has always fielded a top class line up and from these, many exceptional winners. Victors include Champion Chaser, Moscow Flyer, Champion Hurdle favourite, Brave Inca and Back In Front.
Owners will be tempted not only by the €100,000 prize fund in the VC Bet Champion Novice Hurdle but also by a €25,000 bonus. This bonus will be offered to the winner of the 2006 Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham to come to Punchestown and attempt to land the spoils again. Colm Murphy, trainer, who completed that double in 2004 with Brave Inca stated “I know each of my owners would definitely like a shot at that bonus if at all possible. Punchestown is a great festival and I’d love to get the opportunity to have a go at it!”
VC Bet is the worlds largest Independent Bookmaker which last year opened its first Betting Lounge in Ireland at 22 Upper Baggot Street in Dublin. Turlough Lally of VC Bet commented, “Victor Chandler have a rich heritage in race sponsorship and we are delighted to sponsor this Grade 1 event at the Irish National Hunt Festival”.
Delighted to confirm that VC Bet, yet another blue chip company has become a major sponsor at the Irish National Hunt Festival, Dick O'Sullivan commented, “VC Bets sponsorship of the Champion Two Mile Novice Hurdle is a major boost to our festival sponsorship. Their offer of a €25,000 bonus on top of a €100,000 prize fund will be a major attraction to the winner of the Cheltenham race to run here on April 25th. It is even more pleasing that VC Bet have signed a three year contract with us and we look forward to working closely with them over the next few years.”
The Irish National Hunt Festival takes place from Tuesday, April 25th to Friday, April 28th. The total prize fund for the Irish National Hunt Festival is expected to exceed €2.2 million, up more than €100,000 on 2005.
