BHB is grateful to betfair.com, Kempton Park Racecourse and the Horserace Betting Levy Board who have indicated that they will generously contribute to the funding of the transferred race, should this be necessary. The race, which would also receive a contribution from BHB, would continue to be run with a Total Prize Fund of £40,000.
Julian Thick, Manager of Kempton Park Racecourse, said: "I hope that the contingency plan will not need to come into operation, but am very pleased that we have it.
"As well as Betfair, BHB and the Levy Board, I would like to thank the Racing Post and Coral, who are sponsoring races at Kempton Park on Saturday. They have given their support to the possibility of the transfer of the betfair.com Rendlesham Hurdle, and without that it could not have happened."
DUBAI INTERNATIONAL RACING CARNIVAL NEWS
Feet So Fast looks good for Emirates Airline Trophy
Feet So Fast, trained by Satish Seemar, is returning to the form that saw him win on the Nad Al Sheba turf last season and can take the US$100,000 Emirates Airline Trophy on the turf over 1,300 metres on Saturday evening.
Emirates Airline, the official airline of the Dubai International Racing Carnival, is sponsoring Saturday's racemeeting.
Feet So Fast, will be ridden by Ted Durcan, and was last seen out finishing third to San Salvador in the Al Sammak Conditions race over the straight 1,200 metres on dirt. Gary Hind will partner the Mazin Al Kurdi-trained Hazelhatch, a course and distance winner on February 12th in the US$90,000 Al Rostamani Cup.
Trainer Rashid Bouresly is enjoying a successful Dubai International Racing Carnival and runs the Willie Supple-partnered Cat Belling, a winner here nine days ago in the US$100,000 Nashwan Stakes over 1,500 metres on the turf.
Flying the flag for Britain is the Mick Channon-trained Fruit of Glory, the mount of Ryan Moore, who was fifth behind Festive Style in the Darley Cape Verdi Stakes, but looks held by Hazelhatch. Nick Littmoden runs Peruvian Chief who will be ridden by Stanley Chin.
Sweden's challenge in the race is the Diego Lowther-trained Rotulo, Kerrin McEvoy up, has been placed at Nad Al Sheba, including a second to San Salvador early in the Carnival.
Saeed bin Suroor and Frankie Dettori team up with Rosencrans, a recent third behind Little Jim in the UAE 2,000 Guineas (Gr.III) and will find things a little easier with a drop in class to the Skywards Stakes over 1,500 metres on the dirt for three-year-olds.
The son of Forest Wildcat faces the consistent Prince of Denmark, trained by Al Kurdi with Durcan in the saddle. Prince of Denmark battled on strongly a week ago to win the Shadayid Stud Stakes over 1,700 metres, beating stablemate Tamarillo by a neck.
Adiemus will represent trainer Jeremy Noseda in the US$90,000 Emirates Airline Stakes over 2,000 metres on the turf. Dettori will partner the Green Desert gelding who has been placed on his two Nad Al Sheba outings with the most recent being a third behind the impressive Deodatus nine days ago, and should appreciate a return to turf.
Ed Dunlop is double handed in the race with Anani, Supple up, who was seventh behind Victory Moon in the second round of the HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Challenge over 1,800 metres and he is sure to improve on that run. Swift Tango was always towards the rear on his only Nad Al Sheba outing early in the Carnival.
Mark Johnston who enjoyed his first Carnival win with Scott's View last weekend runs Arabie, the mount of Chin. Arabie has not shown the best form in his two runs here but perhaps the slightly shorter trip on turf will suit him.
David Loder's Shami has been a consistent sort since arriving in Dubai and has finished fourth in all three of his Nad Al Sheba runs, with the latest coming when beaten a length and a quarter in the Aljabr Stakes over 2,400 metres on turf, he may also be suited by the 400 metre drop in trip.
Macau can chalk up another win if the Malcolm Thwaites-trained Lord Nelson can land the US$100,000 Emirates Airline Classic over the straight 1,200 metres on the dirt. Lord Nelson, who will again have Mark du Plessis in the saddle, has been runner-up in both his Nad Al Sheba outings, most recently just under five lengths behind Godolphin's Winisk River on February 19th in the Bentley Motors Cup.
Hugh Collingridge runs the Dettori-partnered three-year-old Stormont, a Group Two winner at Baden-Baden in September and making his Nad Al Sheba debut. Bouresly will be looking for a good show from the Brett Doyle-ridden Bold Demand already a Carnival winner back on January 29th.
Boston Lodge, trained by Gerard Butler, came so close to his first Carnival win when beaten in the final strides by Hazelhatch in the Al Rostamani Cup over 1,300 metres on the turf and can make amends by winning the US$100,000 Emirates Airline Cup over the same course and distance.
The Grand Lodge gelding will be up against the Musabah Al Muhairi-trained Mugharreb, the mount of Richard Hills and fourth behind Conceal in the HH The President Cup (Listed) in January.
Irish eyes may be smiling in the US$90,000 Emirates Airline Place over 1,600 metres on the turf, with the Dermot Weld-trained Evolving Tactics and Durcan flying the flag. Evolving Tactics has not been out since finishing sixth in the Secretariat Stakes (Gr.I) at Arlington with his previous run being a win in the American Derby (Gr.II).
Keep an eye on Walmooh from the in-form Allan Smith stable and the Mick de Kock-trained Modus Vivendi, the mount of Weichong Marwing.
HH The President Cup (Gr.I) winner Nizam, trained in Qatar by Alban di Mieulle can prove himself a champion by landing the opening race, the Emirates Airline Challenge for Purebred Arabians over 1,600 metres.
REDEVELOPMENT RECEIVES UNANIMOUS APPROVAL FROM ROYAL BOROUGH PANEL
In November 2003, the Government Office for the South East (GOSE) resolved not to call the Ascot Racecourse Redevelopment in for a public enquiry and referred it back to the Windsor & Rural Parishes Panel, who last night unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for the detailed scheme, subject to legal agreements.
Following the positive GOSE decision last autumn, relating to the outline scheme, the racecourse was then required to submit the full detailed plans to the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead for determination.
Whilst the final issuing of planning permission is dependent on the resolution of appropriate conditions and legal agreements, this earlier than anticipated decision enables the racecourse to plan with confidence towards the commencement of the main redevelopment scheme this autumn.
"It is important that the planning officers for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead receive appropriate thanks for considering and assessing what is a very detailed application so quickly," said Douglas Erskine-Crum, Chief Executive at Ascot Racecourse.
"They have been mindful that we need to start the redevelopment proper in the autumn to enable us reopen in time for Royal Ascot 2006 and worked tirelessly to bring this application to the panel last night.
"Needless to say, we are delighted that the panel unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for the detailed scheme, as indeed they did when they considered the outline planning application in August last year.
"There are several important outstanding issues, relating not just to the finer detail of the scheme but also to the construction phase, that we will now take forward to enable the Royal Borough to issue the final planning permission."
SANDOWN PARK CAPTURES LADBROKE HURDLE
Sandown Park announce today that the two mile Ladbroke Hurdle, traditionally run at Ascot's pre-Christmas meeting, will be transferred to Tolworth Hurdle Day at the Esher track on 8(superscript: th) January 2005, a day already fully sponsored by Ladbrokes.
The new arrangement is likely to be in place for two years whilst Ascot undergoes extensive redevelopment. The value of the race will be maintained at £100,000.
Mike Dillon, PR Director of Ladbrokes said: "This is a big race is worthy of a big stage and by switching it to Sandown Park we are assured of this. We look forward to working with them over the next two years."
Irish Hussar is now 4/1 all in for the Racing Post Chase on Saturday
"Irish Hussar is by far and away the worst loser in our antepost book but it is interesting that since we went non runner no bet following the final decs the money has all been for Jimmy Tennis," said Balthazar Fabricius of Ladbrokes.
