LA LANDIERE WELL-BACKED FOR RACING POST REPEAT
La Landiere has been trimmed to 11-2 (from 7-1) clear second favourite by Coral for back-to-back wins in the Racing Post Chase after the mare was the subject of decent support today.
"With doubts over the participation of current market leader Irish Hussar, there's every chance La Landiere will be clear favourite by Saturday," predicted Coral's David Stevens.

BULLISH LUCK TAKES HONG KONG GOLD CUP GR. 1 FOR MORRIS
Bullish Luck, bred by Max and the late Isobel Morris at Iverk House Stud, was the game winner of the Hong Kong Gold Cup, Group 1 at Sha Tin on Sunday. Trying 10 furlongs for only the second time in his career, the son of Royal Academy came from last to first to get up near the line.
Third in the race was the Irish Bred Bowman's Crossing, by Dolphin Street.
NEWMILL SIGNS OFF WITH A COMFORTABLE WIN AT NAAS
Smart novice hurdler Newmill is to be put away until next season following his comfortable success in the EUR50,000 Grade 2 betfair.com Johnstown Novice Hurdle at Naas on Sunday.
Although the son of Norwich proved a little hard to hold in the early stages of the race he was in a different class to his opposition and readily beat Inexorable under Barry Geraghty.
Now the winner of four of his seven starts over hurdles, Newmill will be schooled over fences before a summer break and will be sent chasing on his return to action in the autumn.
STRONG RUN A SURPRISE WINNER AT NAAS
The Noel Meade-trained Strong Run was the surprise winner of the EUR65,000 Grade 2 Paddy and Helen Cox Memorial Newlands Chase at Naas on Sunday.
Paul Carberry made all the running on the 16/1 outsider to beat Native Scout and the odds-on favourite Native Upmanship. The winner is owned and bred by Michael D McGrath.
While trainer Arthur Moore announced that Native Upmanship would not be taking on the brilliant Moscow Flyer in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham but would instead wait for the Aintree Festival, Meade will run his winner in the Grand Annual Handicap Chase at the big March meeting.
STARZAAN TOO STRONG IN FONTWELL GRADE 2
Starzaan (Darshaan) was the clear winner of the Grade 2 Tote National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell on Sunday.
The Coral Cup Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival beckons for the smart five-year-old who proved six-lengths too strong fro French-raider Vic Toto according to winning trainer Hughie Morrison. Timmy Murphy rode the winner for Hughie Morrison.
GRADE 3 SUCCESS FOR AINTREE BOUND TAKAGI
Takagi will head straight to Aintree for the Martell Grand National following his all-the-way success in the EUR35,000 Grade 3 Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday.
The Edward O'Grady-trained nine-year-old proved too strong for recent Hennessy Gold Cup fourth Alexander Banquet to win by two and a half lengths and the winning trainer commented, "On his day, he is a very good horse, and today he showed what he is capable of. I won't run him again before Aintree."
Takagi is a son of Husyan and was winning for the seventh time in his career. This was his fifth win over fences.
POWER ELITE WINS FAIRYHOUSE GRADE 3 EVENT
The Irish challenge for the Triumph Hurdle was strengthened somewhat when the Noel Meade-trained Power Elite added to his recent Leopardstown victory with a win in the EUR35,000 Grade 3 Tattersalls (Ireland) Derby Sale Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Saturday.
Meade also saddled Wild Passion to finish second to Power Elite and both horses could take their chance in the same race at Cheltenham according to the winning trainer.
Although Irish-bred, Power Elite spent his early career in France where he gained a Listed success as a two-year-old, and he heads to the Festival as the leading Irish hope for the Triumph Hurdle.
OUR VIC WINS IN FINE STYLE AT ASCOT
Our Vic, a son of Old Vic and a winner in the Irish point-to-point field, continues to go from strength to strength and he recorded an impressive victory in the Grade 2 Amlin Plus Reynoldstown Novices' Chase at Ascot on Saturday.
Owned by David Johnson and trained by Martin Pipe, Our Vic maintained his unbeaten record over fences with a six-length success but connections have yet to announce the winners' Cheltenham Festival target.
The promising six-year-old holds an entry in three Cheltenham races, the Arkle Chase, the Royal and SunAlliance Chase and the Cathcart Chase.
THISTHATANDTOTHER SHORTENS AS ARKLE FAVOURITE
The Irish-bred Thisthatandtother is firmly on target for the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham following his runaway success in the R O Dando & Sons Builders Novice Chase at Wincanton on Saturday.
Ridden by Ruby Walsh, Thisthatandtother has been at the head of the ante post market for the Arkle Chase for some time now and he consolidated his position with a flawless performance.
A son of Bob Back, the eight-year-old was winning his fourth race over fences and his eighth in all. His main opponent at Cheltenham will be the Tom Taaffe-trained Kicking King.
MYERSCOUGH JOINS TATTERSALLS IRELAND BOARD
Philip Myerscough has joined the board of sales company Tattersalls Ireland. The 55-year-old has been appointed Director of Flat Sales and is to begin in his new position immediately.
The former Managing Director of Goffs, Myerscough joined the auctioneering team at Tattersalls and Tattersalls Ireland in June, 2003, and is one of two new board members at the latter firm, joining Marketing Manager Simon Kerins.
Myerscough is the owner of Baroda Stud in Newbridge, County Kildare and is a Steward of the Turf Club and a director of Leopardstown Racecourse.
MULLINS HAS FOUR IN NAKAYAMA GRAND JUMP
Top trainer Willie Mullins is responsible for four of the five Irish entries for the EUR1.1m Nakayama Grand Jump on Saturday, April 17.
Cheltenham Gold Cup hope Florida Pearl has been selected to run in the 4250-metre event but Mullins is hoping to run Adamant Approach in the prestigious Japanese contest.
Mullins also has Davenport Milenium and Rule Supreme in the event and the other Irish invite is the Edward O'Grady-trained Back In Front.
PUNCHESTOWN PRIZE MONEY UP AGAIN
Prize money for the 2004 Irish National Hunt Festival at Punchestown is up again on last year and an amazing EUR1.7m is on offer over the four days.
The Festival runs from Tuesday, April 27 to Friday, 30, and betting exchange operator Betdaq has been announced as the new sponsor of the EUR150,000 two-mile chase at the meeting. Ballymore Properties has taken over as the title sponsor on the Thursday where the EUR125,000 Ballymore Properties Champion Stayers' Hurdle is the feature race.
The Heineken Gold Cup, won last year by First Gold, is worth EUR180,000 remains the feature event of the week and Emo Oil return to support the EUR160,000 Champion Hurdle, Ireland's richest Grade 1 hurdle.
Dick O' Sullivan, General Manager at Punchestown Racecourse added that Punchestown will continue with its highly successful overseas runners programme, which was introduced last year and brought 47 oversees runners to the 2003 Festival.
SOLERINA ON THE ROAD TO CHELTENHAM
Punter's favourite Solerina is back in full training for the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham after she was forced to miss the Boyne Hurdle at Navan recently.
Michael Bowe reported last week that the brilliant mare has finished a course of antibiotics and said, "She's back doing a little bit of work again now and she should be as right as rain come Cheltenham. The good spell of weather has helped her a lot."
