INSPECTIONS FOR MONDAY'S CARDS AT MUSSELBURGH AND FONTWELL
Musselburgh has to pass a precautionary inspection tomorrow morning to see if Monday's fixture can go ahead.
Anthea Morshead, the clerk of the course, said: "There isn't any frost and the course is perfectly raceable at present. However, the Met Office has told us to expect snow from around lunchtime today. So in view of the forecast we have decided to hold a precautionary inspection at 6.30am.
"There is no frost forecast for tonight and temperatures are due to get up to 4C to 5C tomorrow with the snow turning to rain. Because we are close to the sea history tells us that we might miss the worst of the snow."
The going was described this morning as soft on the hurdle course and good to soft, soft in places on the chase track.
Rain has put tomorrow's fixture at Fontwell Park in doubt.
Officials at the track will hold an inspection at noon today to determine whether the fixture can go ahead.
Clerk of the course David McHarg said: "We've had eight millimetres of rain overnight and it is still raining and it is set to continue into this afternoon. I've called an early inspection because we should know our fate by then."
The going was described this morning as heavy.
