SOL SHINES AT FAIRYHOUSE
Solerina had her odds slashed from 20-1 to 12s for the Smurfit Champion Hurdle after routing a small field in the 2m 4f Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.
Totesport spokesman Damian Walker said: “Solerina had her ground and was racing over arguably her best trip but there was a lot to like about this performance. If the ground came up soft at Cheltenham she would have a serious chance in the Champion Hurdle.
“The runner-up Brave Inca failed to enhance his reputation and his jumping was disappointing.”
Meanwhile Fundamentalist, Ollie Magern and Vodka Bleu were all trimmed for the Royal & SunAlliance Chase after some disappointing trials from their likely Cheltenham Festival rivals at Newbury and Fairyhouse today.
Walker added: “We were not impressed by Cornish Rebel's win and the same comment also applies to Watson Lake's win in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse.
“Nigel Twiston-Davies is most unlikely to run both Fundamentalist and Ollie Magern in the SunAlliance so until we know which one is likely to go for that race it makes sense to stay on the right side of both of them.”
