DAM OF BREEDERS' CUP JUVENILE WINNER WILKO TO SELL AT TATTERSALLS DECEMBER SALE

NATIVE ROOTS, the dam of Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner WILKO is to be sold at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale (November 22nd ‘ December 2nd). The winning seven year old by INDIAN RIDGE is in foal to STREET CRY, who like WILKO, enjoyed his finest hours on dirt with victories in the 2002 Group 1 Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba and the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs.

WILKO, a two time winner in England trained by Jeremy Noseda in Newmarket, became the first British trained winner of North America's premier two year old race in his first start on dirt having been placed in both the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot. The son of AWESOME AGAIN, himself a winner of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Classic and also sire of Breeders' Cup Classic winner GHOSTZAPPER, will now join Hollywood Park based trainer Craig Dollase for owners Paul Reddam and Paul and Susan Roy, with sights firmly set on Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May 2005.

WILKO is the first foal out of NATIVE ROOTS, whose one win was at Turfway Park in Kentucky when trained by D. Wayne Lukas. She has a filly foal by TALK IS MONEY, who like AWESOME AGAIN is a son of DEPUTY MINISTER, and is out of the Listed placed TAP ON WOOD mare PHAZANIA, which is the same cross as the great Breeders' Cup Mile winning racemare RIDGEWOOD PEARL. PHAZANIA's half sister MUFFITYS, by THATCH, is the grandam of two Japanese Champions TAIKI SHUTTLE, winner of the 1998 Prix Jacques Le Marois, and also PEACE OF WORLD, who was 2002 Champion two year old filly in Japan.

NATIVE ROOTS is one of 22 mares and fillies to be consigned at the December Sales by Jamie Railton, with other highlights of the consignment likely to include the Classic placed four year old mare TIME AHEAD, in foal to Champion DALAKHANI, and Irish andYorkshire Oaks winner PURE GRAIN's daughter PURE SPIN in foal to PIVOTAL.
