BP= the best price at the time of writing

1. 531-85 Lindop Robert Alner 8-11-12 Keiran Burke (7)
Fifth here in two-mile event in December on second start in handicap company, having ran acceptably behind Jack The Giant at Cheltenham. Sluiced up in soft ground maiden hurdle at Lingfield last March, but beat nothing and he may struggle off this rating. No wonder they are using a claimer. BP= 5/1

2. 1-0 Penn Da Benn Philip Hobbs 5-11-09 Richard Johnson
Slit his own throat by charging off in two-mile introductory hurdle at Newbury over Christmas (still managed to finish mid-division), but previously surprise winner at Auteuil in desperate conditions. Has a chance if settling better and will have no problem with the forecast ground. But he may be handicapped too highly. BP= 10/1

3. 422-61 Sebastiano Gary Moore 5-11-07 Jamie Moore
Another who will revel in the testing conditions, having scored readily on second start for trainer in weakish event at Lingfield. Up 10lb for that success. This is tougher but he may have improved enough. Ex-French performer who won two claiming hurdles there. BP= 9/4

4. 42-314 Dancer’s Serenade Ferdy Murphy 6-11-05 Graham Lee
Won narrowly under good ride over further on soft ground at Wetherby in December before struggling here over 2m 5f on Boxing Day in hot handicap (winner and third set to run in Lanzarote). Steps down sharply in distance and this is a fast course. BP= 9/2

5. 2302-6 Charlotte Vale Micky Hammond 7-11-04 Tony Dobbin
Sixth but well beaten on seasonal debut over longer at Kelso in late November. Had not run for a few months from the Flat. Winless over obstacles since losing maiden tag on good to soft at first attempt. But she has run well since. This flat track may suit the mare and she likes soft ground. Has very experienced rider. BP= 25/1

6. 7-1 Strath Gallant Richard Guest 5-11-02 NON-RUNNER

7. 211744 Mud Monkey Brendan Powell 4-10-09 Tom Siddall
Looks badly named as both hurdle wins have come on good and good to firm ground. Gave lumps of weight all round here on good to soft on latest appearance and went out as a light as a result. Should perform better on handicap debut and youngster has some scope for improvement. BP= 18/1

8. 5/324- Daraybad Nicky Henderson 6-10-08 Mick Fitzgerald
Last seen 386 days ago when plugging on fourth in similar event on soft ground at Hereford (fractured pelvis). In-form trainer is adamant that the gelding has improvement in him, so could be interesting if fit off a light weight in testing conditions. Has yet to win over hurdles. BP=3/1

SUMMARY
A tricky little race despite there being only seven runners now. The best value by far is the 25/1 offered about Charlotte Vale who is far too high a price on her best form.
