GOING: Soft

BP= the best price at the time of writing

1) -3551 AMOUR MULTIPLE Sean Lycett 8-11-12 Tony McCoy
Dropped in grade to win at Hereford last time after two respectable efforts in better class handicap hurdles. Jockey booking could be significant but he has done up 6lb for the victory and is racing off his highest-ever mark while the Hereford form has yet to prove itself No value. BP=9/4

2) -0023 BURNTOAKBOY Dr Richard Newland 9-11-06 Mr Tom Weston (7)
Solid efforts last twice over much longer trips for new stable but has gone 28 races without a win and handicapper has not been kind. The marked drop in trip may be against him. Others preferred. BP=14/1

3) 0P-12 MASTER MAHOGANY Ron Hodges 6-11-06 Paddy Merrigan (3)
He ran a good race to be second on soft ground at Taunton last time. Won well the time before but has been raised in the handicap accordingly, going up7lb for the victory and another 5lb for his second. He is still one to consider but there is better value available. BP=7/2

4) 31732 MAGIC SKY Milton Harris 7-11-06 Charlie Poste (5)
Consistent performer this term who is at home on soft ground. Chased home in-form Torkinking over two miles on heavy going at Wetherby last time. His victory earlier in the season came over further than this, over two miles and five furlongs and he could need a longer trip. But the fact that he trainer is persisting at this distance is significant. He looks excellent value each-way. BP=9/1

5) 1-750 THE LOCAL Charles Egerton 7-11-01 Sam Jones (5)
Front-running course and distance winner. Out of form in three starts this term including when beaten a long way by Amour Multiple at Hereford. Won twice over fences last season and has yet to drop back in the ratings to his winning level over hurdles. BP=14/1

6) 536-2 THE HAIRY LEMON Alan King 7-11-01 Gerard Tumelty (5)
Progressed to land a hat-trick of narrow wins last season. Shaped well on belated seasonal return when runner-up over two miles on heavy going at Wetherby 17 days ago. Has gone up 2lb for that and is racing off his highest mark. No value. BP= 7/2

7) 16633 HAIL THE KING Robert Carson 7-10-10 Robert Lucey-Butler (3)
Always runs well at Wincanton but seems handicapped up to the hilt. Returned to form when reverting to two miles on soft going at Plumpton last time but overall form does not look good enough. BP=14/1

8) -0P05 PICOT DE SAY Craig Roberts 5-10-00 Tom O'Brien
Successful over the course and distance last season but he is 4lb out of the handicap. He showed last time that he might be returning to form and cannot be ignored. BP=12/1

9) 06-00 FISBY Karl Burke 6-10-00 Richard Killoran (7)
Well-beaten in all four starts over hurdles and his rider's claim still leaves him 8lb wrong at the weights. No chance. BP=66/1

SUMMARY
This is an interesting handicap and Magic Sky is clearly the best value each-way.

GOOD LUCK
