BP= the best price at the time of writing

1) 2212-8 ROMANY PRINCE Steve Gollings 8-11-07 Andrew Glassonbury (5)
Not seen since finishing well beaten after a nine-month layoff at Market Rasen in June. He is probably better over further and on faster ground - his last hurdles win was over an extended two miles and six furlongs on good to firm - and opposable here under top weight. BP= 33/1

2) 6-3173 MAGIC SKY Milton Harris 7-11-03 NON RUNNER

3) 1F-1 PRINCELET Nicky Henderson 5-11-06 Tony McCoy
Unexposed five-year-old from top stable who has done little wrong so far. He made a winning debut over obstacles at Taunton a year ago and fell when still travelling well on only other start last season. He made a successful handicap debut on return over this course and distance on December 27, beating the useful Orcadian, but has gone up 8lb for that win and likely to go off at very cramped odds, especially with Tony McCoy on board. BP= 4/7

4) B49-95 PRIME CONTENDER Gary Moore 5-11-05b Jamie Moore
Dual all-weather scorer this winter over middle distances and not disgraced in two hurdles starts, coming home ninth behind Acambo in the competitive Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle at Ascot on December 16 and then running fifth to Nikola at Leicester 12 days later. May have found that race coming too soon and has place prospects or better here. Jamie Moore, who should know him well, takes the ride for the first time and as long as the horse can be settled, then he will have every chance. The blinkers that made a difference on the Flat are on too. BP= 9/2

5) 125-F3 ADJAMI Alan King 6-11-02 Wayne Hutchinson
Only success to date came at Bangor in May, 2005 on good ground but he almost certainly bettered that effort when second to subsequent Hennessy winner State Of Play next time. Fell when beaten at Leicester in November, though he posted a fair effort when third under top weight at Exeter last month, and claims if building on that run for his in-form handler. BP= 11/1

6) 291-32 CANDARLI David Gandolfo 11-10-12 Timmy Murphy
Capable on his day, scoring three times over hurdles - twice for today’s jockey - and ran respectably on the all-weather when fifth in an amateur riders race on January 5 after an absence of over four months. However, he prefers decent ground and looks to have a tough task against younger, more progressive rivals. BP= 16/1

7) -34596 LORD LINGTON David Wintle 8-10-01 Ryan Cummings (10)
Moody customer who has refused to race in the past and finished well behind Princelet here last time out. He has ability and this is his trip, but he probably does not want the ground this testing and may need his sights lowered if he is to get back into the winner’s enclosure. BP= 25/1

8) 248-F DAFARABAD Jonjo OìNeill 5-10-03 Richard Johnson
Been somewhat disappointing so far over hurdles for his connections having made a promising jumping debut when second at Wetherby, and was never in contention on seasonal/handicap chase debut at Uttoxeter in November, falling three from home when in last place. On the plus side, the return to hurdles should suit, he has a light weight and a top jockey doing the steering, so could run well at a price. BP= 10/1

SUMMARY

This is an interesting little race and it is worth opposing the hot favourite Princelet. The question is with whom? Prime Contender gets the nod over Adjami as his form has more strength in depth.

Good Luck
