THE VALUE BETTING COLUMN EVERY SATURDAY SOUTHWELL, SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2005 1:50pm £20,000 You're Vegas Or You're Not Mansion House Handicap Chase 2m for the best odds go to www.BritOdds.com BP= the best price at the time of writing GOING: GOOD TO SOFT 1) 0-54741 Palua Emma Lavelle 9-11-12 Marcus Foley Made all to win at Ludlow last time out which is right-handed whereas this is left handed. This is a hotter race. Has gone up 6lb for that win and has it to do giving weight all round. BP= 8/1 2) 00-1P21 Royal Hector (GER) Jonjo O'Neill 7-11-06 Noel Fehily Dual winning novice chaser who runs against his seniors in an open handicap chase for the first time. Toughest task to date. BP= 6/1 3) 2-23532 Bleu Superbe (FR) Venetia Williams 11-11-05 Sam Thomas Front runner who is consistent but frustrating to follow as he cannot seem to get his head in front. BP= 3/1 4) 2-42067 Almaydan Richard Lee 8-11-04 J P McNamara Disappointing last three runs but is dropping down the handicap and is blinkered for the first time. BP= 14/1 5) 511F17 Oso Magic Sue Smith 8-11-01 D O'Meara Has had a pretty good season so far but fell three outings ago, then won a hurdle and was beaten on heavy ground at Haydock last time for which he can be excused. Not out of it. BP= 6/1 6) 6PU73P Turgeonev (FR) Tim Easterby 11-11-00 Russ Garritty Not the force he once was and he might prefer a longer distance but Turgeonev cannot be dismissed. He will like the strong pace and has dropped down the handicap, being 14lb better off with Bleu Superbe compared to a fairly recent meeting. His two pulled ups have come over 21 furlongs at Wetherby. This is an easier track and a shorter distance. Worth taking a chance with. BP= 16/1 7) 223-525 Super Nomad Mick Easterby 11-10-13 Mr Tom Greenall (3) Very consistent sort who is best at two miles - he found the extra three furlongs at Doncaster too much last time out. BP= 12/1 8) 96P1P2 Nowator (POL) Robert Gray 9-10-11 Andrew Thornton Races prominently but a bit in and out. A decent second at Haydock last time over this distance and his two failures were over an extra half a mile. BP= 6/1 9) 2215-80 Waterspray (AUS) Ian Williams 8-10-06 Henry Oliver Looks best on fast ground and has not shown much in two spaced-out runs this season. BP= 25/1 10) 3/F1P-20 Terre de Java (FR) Heather Dalton 8-10-04 Tom Doyle Has not run since May when tried on fast ground. Novice last season when showed plenty of ability but also made mistakes. Trainer in fair form and could surprise. BP= 12/1 11) 4633P7 Log On Intersky (IRE) J R Cornwall 10-10-00 M Nicolls (5) Generally disappointing and this is asking a lot. 3lb out of the handicap. BP= 50/1 SUMMARY An interesting and valuable handicap where not a lot is clear cut so it is worth taking a chance with old stager Turgeonev who has dropped down the handicap sharply and two outings ago showed a glimpse of his old form.
