GOING: GOOD TO SOFT, SOFT IN PLACES

1) 12P- Bathwick Annie Brendan Powell 10-11-12 Noel Fehily
Won this race last year but has not raced since pulling-up in the Midlands Grand National in March. Tough task under top-wight on her first start for Brendan Powell. BP= 16/1

2) -F35 Almost Broke Paul Nicholls 9-11-09 Ruby Walsh
Yet to hit top form this term but by far the best performance was the latest when fifth at Chepstow over two and a half miles in December. Disappointed in this race last year when fifth but would still have a chance on his best form which he has shown with Ruby Walsh who is in the saddle today. Down a 1lb from last time. BP= 6/1

3) -8FP Philson Run Nick Williams 10-11-08 NON RUNNER

4) 35-7 Parsons Legacy Philip Hobbs 8-11-06 Richard Johnson
Good third behind Juveigneur in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup at last year’s Cheltenham Festival, although comeback run in November offered little encouragement. Best watched this time. BP= 14/1

5) P472 Spring Grove Robert Alner 11-11-03 Andrew Thornton
Useful on his day though has not won for over a year. Ran well behind Eurotrek last time and vulnerable to improvers here. Has run poorly on only two visits to the track. BP= 15/2

6) -21F Lord Olympia Venetia Williams 7-11-01 Sam Thomas
Unexposed young chaser who won well over three miles and a furlong at Folkestone in December before falling when travelling well at Wetherby earlier this month. Should be in the shake-up today if he remains on his feet. BP= 4/1

7) /P-P Supreme Catch Henrietta Knight 9-11-00 Marcus Foley
Has shown nothing on his last two runs, latest when pulling-up at Ludlow last month on first run for over a year after leg trouble. Must have had something wrong with him and was very consistent before that. Trainer reports that he likes right-handed courses like this one and soft ground. BP= 33/1

8) F281 Party Games Gary Moore 9-10-09p Philip Hide
Won a novice chase by nine lengths at Huntingdon earlier this month on latest start although overall level of form might leave him with something to find against today’s opposition, though he has scope for improvement and has won at the course. Up 7lb for his win. BP= 8/1

9) 21F1 Dunbrody Millar Peter Bowen 8-10-09 Tom Malone (3)
Progressive young chaser who could have been on a four-timer but for falling two runs back at Doncaster when looking the likely winner. Impressive 10-length winner of Sussex National at Plumpton last time. Racing off his highest ever mark after going up 14lb. BP= 9/2

10) P423 Dante Citizen Tom George 8-10-00
Consistent this year, finishing third, beaten a length, behind Yardbird over course and distance on latest run on Boxing Day. All three of his races this season have been at the course and he was a course and distance winner last season. BP= 11/2

11) 40-4 Walter’s Destiny Colin Mitchell 14-10-00 Kieren Burke (7)
Veteran performer who did win over course and distance back in December, 2004. Out of the handicap here by 5lb but has a 7lb claimer. BP= 50/1

SUMMARY

Very open contest. There are three at the bottom of the handicap with a chance but the value is with the locally-trained ALMOST BROKE
