An Easy Win for Big Easy

Big Easy claimed his seventeenth career win at Nad Al Sheba on Saturday evening when claiming the Sir Bani Yas conditions race over 1,200 metres for Purebred Arabians.

Partnered by Ted Durcan and trained by Satish Seemar, Big Easy made virtually all, Bengalant, the mount of Willie Supple, came with a brief challenge but Big Easy ran on to win by a length and three quarters.

Musabah Al Muhairi’s Junction Line, the mount of Stanley Chin, came with a late run to lead in the final strides and win the Kalba Handicap over 1,300 metres for Thoroughbreds. Nantucket, the mount of James Moriarty, made most of the running but weakened close home to finish sixth.

Junction Line, who was winning his second race on the bounce, finished a half length ahead of Elmonjed with Siglo a short head back in third.

Durcan began his New Year in great style when claiming his second win of the evening with the Mazin Al Kurdi-trained Delude in the 1,500 metre Al Rams Handicap. Delude raced towards the rear and began to make progress into the straight with the field being headed by the Dhruba Selvaratnam-trained Naaddey, the mount of Pat Smullen.

Delude, a son of Be My Guest, took the lead 150 metres out and ran on to a three quarter of a length win from Mythical Jinks and Naaddey.

Dubai Guest a winner here in November dropped back in trip to land the 1,200 metre Al Manamah Handicap for trainer Rashid Bouresly and jockey David Hayse. Close home the Supple-partnered Maksad set sail for home but Dubai Guest was closing with every stride and led close home to win by a length and a quarter.

Marbush, trained by Selvaratnam and partnered by Pat Smullen, was an easy three and three quarter lengths winner of the Murbih Handicap over 2,000 metres.

Alshawameq, trained by Doug Watson, took the field into the straight with Marbush going well and ran on to lead 400 metres out and stayed on for a comfortable win. Afghan, trained by Al Kurdi, could not catch the winner and had to settle for second with Alshawameq in third.

Musaayer, Dean Mernagh in the saddle, came with a late run to win the final race of the evening, the 2,000 metre Al Libbsa Handicap.
