THE VALUE BETTING COLUMN
CHELTENHAM, SATURDAY, JANUARY 1, 2005 GOING: GOOD 1.00pm £25,000 added Cheltenham And Three Counties Club Handicap Chase 3m 2.5f For the latest best odds, go to www.britodds.com BP = best price at the time of writing 1) -554 It Takes Time Martin Pipe 10-11-12 Timmy Murphy Decent over both hurdles and fences at his best. Ran his best race for some time when a close fourth behind Baracouda over hurdles at Windsor last time. A chance despite his big weight as he often runs well at Cheltenham. BP = 5/1 2) -23P Lord Noelie Bridget Nicholls 11-11-11 Jason Maguire Landed the Royal & SunAlliance Chase here in 2000 and gained his sole success since when taking this race last year. Good effort on first two appearances this year but disappointing last time. Likes this ground. BP = 14/1 3) /3P3 Frenchman's Creek Hughie Morrison 10-11-10p Ruby Walsh Suffered from injury over past few years but very decent at best. Disappointing in Hennessy on penultimate appearance before a much better effort at Cheltenham last time. Chance if on song and likes the course. BP = 4/1 4) 1263 Mondial Jack Martin Pipe 5-11-10 Tony McCoy Has some decent form to his name this season but gives the impression he is in the grip of the handicapper at present - his best trip is also up for debate. BP = 9/1 5) -P90 Artic Jack Sue Smith 8-11-07 Dominic Elsworth Much-improved performer in the first half of last season but disappointing since and nothing to suggest a revival is imminent. BP = 25/1 6) 2121 Willie John Daly Philip Hobbs 7-11-06 Richard Johnson Thoroughly genuine and tough performer who put up a good show to win a competitive handicap at Newbury last time. Open to more improvement but the handicapper is giving him more to do. BP = 11/2 7) UU16 Baron Windrush Nigel Twiston-Davies 6-11-00 Carl Llewellyn Had problems with his jumping earlier in the season before winning on penultimate appearance at Aintree. However, his run here last time leaves him with a bit to find and he is still only a novice. BP = 7/1 8) U153 Un Jour A Vassy Paul Nicholls 9-10-11 Paddy Brennan Has a good record at Cheltenham, even though his two wins came at a lower level. Has been in decent enough form this season and, with his stable in cracking form, he has an each-way chance. BP = 20/1 9) 2211 Lord Of Illusion Tom George 7-10-11 Mick Fitzgerald Improving novice who has won has last two starts at Ludlow and Newbury. Open to further improvement but this is his toughest task to date and he is at a short enough price. BP = 7/2 10) 7941 Smile Pleeze Matt Sheppard 12-10-06p Lee Stephens (7) Last seen out when taking a decent amateurs handicap here at the November meeting. Taking a step up in class here and had generally not shown that great a level of form before. BP = 12/1 11) 342- Francolino Dr Philip Pritchard 11-10-00 Jodie Mogford No chance on first run for over a year and from almost three stone out of the handicap.
BP = 250/1
