LATEST CORAL ANTE-POST PRICES
BOOKIES ROCKED BY ANTE POST GAMBLE ON EMOTIONAL MOMENT
Emotional Moment was today the subject of the biggest industry-wide ante post gamble of the jump season for next week's Tote Gold Trophy. Coral bookmakers were forced to slash his odds from 16-1 to 12-1 before trimming him further to 10-1 and finally 8/1.
Ante post bets flooded in this afternoon on the Tom Taaffe trained entry and one major telephone tipping line is thought to be behind the substantial plunge, although Coral reported money from some of their "shrewdest sources".
"This has been a very quiet period for ante post betting but the peace and quiet was well and truly broken by this monster gamble", said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.
In other market moves, Classified continued to be well supported for the Stayers Hurdle and is now 9-1 from 12-1 with Coral.

TOTE JACKPOT MOVES TO WOLVERHAMPTON TOMORROW
The Tote Jackpot reached a massive £440,108 at Lingfield today (with £207,666 brought forward into the day) and was eventually won to just 50p, meaning that £220,054 is carried forward to Wolverhampton tomorrow.
"We were optimistic that the pool would reach well in excess of £300,000 today, but to get to £440,000 was at the top end of our estimates," said Tote PR Director Andy Clifton.
"Over the last couple of years, when the pool has started the day at £200,000 or more, it has almost doubled, so to outperform that, given the debate over the new minimum unit stake, is very encouraging. The pool has taken a little longer than normal to grow to this stage, but given the chance to win a headline grabbing sum, both small and large staking customers have voted with their cash today. We have always maintained that the first test of the 50p unit stake would be when we had our first really big rollover, so we have to be delighted with today's pool. It will be fascinating to see what level the pool reaches tomorrow, with a bigger rollover than the one we started today with. Another £400,000 Jackpot would be great."
RESULTS OF TODAY'S JOCKEY CLUB DISCIPLINARY PANEL ENQUIRIES APPEALS
Panel: Lord Halifax (Chairman), Tim Bell and Nicholas Wrigley
Shane Kelly
The Disciplinary Panel of the Jockey Club, on 30th January 2003, held an enquiry to establish whether or not Shane Kelly, the rider of NOTANOTHER, had committed a breach of Rule 153(iii) of the Rules of Racing, in the light of Jockey Club Instruction H9 headed 'Use of the Whip', concerning his use of the whip in the Bet All Weather Bet Direct Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton on 13th January 2003. This matter was referred to the Stewards of the Jockey Club by the Wolverhampton Stewards following their enquiry of the same day because Kelly had been suspended from riding for 22 days for mis-use of the Whip within the previous twelve months.
The Panel considered evidence from Kelly. It also viewed video recordings of the race.
The Panel accepted an admission from Kelly that he was guilty of improper riding and in breach of Jockey Club Instruction H9 headed 'Use of the Whip' in that he used his whip with excessive force.
Taking into account that Kelly had been suspended for 22 days since 15th February 2002, it suspended him from riding for 17 days, of which 3 will be deferred until 7th August 2003. The suspension will commence on Friday 7th February to Saturday 22nd February on days on which flat racing is scheduled to take place.
Noel Fehily
The Disciplinary Panel of the Jockey Club, on 30th January 2003, considered an appeal lodged by Noel Fehily, the rider of DUNSTON BILL, placed third in the Weatherbys Insurance Services Handicap Steeple Chase, against the decision of the Stewards at Plumpton following an enquiry on 23rd January 2003 to find him guilty of careless riding and to suspend him from riding for four days.
The Panel heard evidence from Fehily, who was legally represented, Rodi Greene, the rider of L'EPICURIEN (FR), placed second and Philip Hide, the rider of INAKI (FR), unplaced. It also viewed video recordings of the race.
The Panel found that DUNSTON BILL had interfered with L'EPICURIEN (FR) who in turn interfered with INAKI (FR) at the top of the hill on the first circuit. The Panel attributed the cause of the interference to Fehily and that this was due to careless riding. The Panel was of the opinion that, having bypassed the fourth fence, Fehily made his way to the inside rail without first establishing that there were no horses on his inside. Fehily should have left sufficient room for Greene and Hide who had established their position on his inside.
The Panel did not accept Fehily's explanation that he was entitled to go straight to the inside rail without first checking whether there were horses on his inside.
Furthermore it considered that the interference had not improved DUNSTON HILL's placing and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
It upheld the appeal in part and suspended him from riding for 3 days, from Saturday 1st February to Tuesday 4th February on days on which jump racing is scheduled to take place. The Panel ordered the deposit money to be returned.
Paul D'Arcy
The Disciplinary Panel of the Jockey Club, on 30th January 2003, into the analysis of the urine ordered to be taken from AZREME, trained by Paul D'Arcy, by the Stewards at Sandown after the colt had finished second in the Iron Trades Insurance Novice Stakes on 5th July 2002. The Panel also considered whether or not D'Arcy had committed a breach of Rule 221B (i), in the light of Jockey Club Instruction C8, headed "Records of A Treatment", in that his records of treatment failed to record the methylprednisolone injections given to the colt by his veterinary surgeon on 23rd May; and Rule 220 (viii), in that on a date subsequent to the Investigating Officer's initial visit he deliberately amended an entry in his treatment records so as to make it appear that the methylprednisolone injections had been recorded correctly.
The urine of the horse was found to contain methylprednisolone, which is a prohibited substance. After considering the evidence, including statements from D'Arcy, who was legally represented, his Veterinary Surgeon and other witnesses, the Panel was satisfied that the source of the substance was the injections of Depomedrone given to AZREME by D'Arcy's veterinary surgeon on 23rd May 2002.
The Panel accepted an admission from D'Arcy that he was in breach of Rule 53. The Panel found him to be in breach of Rule 220 (viii) in that he deliberately amended an entry in his treatment records. It did not accept his explanation that the amendment was not intended to deceive but solely to show that he kept proper records.
The Jockey Club withdrew the charge in respect of Rule 221 B (i). In respect of Rule 53 it imposed a fine of £750, this being D'Arcy's second offence and in respect of Rule 220 (viii) a fine of £500. Under Rule 180(ii), the Panel disqualified AZREME from the race, placing TENDER FALCON second and SPECTRUM STAR third.
Bob Buckler
The Disciplinary Panel of the Jockey Club, on 30th January 2003, held an enquiry into the analysis of the urine ordered to be taken from OSCAR PERFORMANCE (IRE), trained by Bob Buckler, by the Stewards at Towcester after the gelding had finished first in the Shoosmiths 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle Race on 24th May 2002.
The urine of the horse was found to contain phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone, which are prohibited substances. After considering the evidence, including statements from Buckler, and other witnesses, the Panel was unable to establish the source of the substance, and could not therefore be satisfied that the administration of the substance was accidental and that the trainer had taken all reasonable care.
The Panel found Buckler to be in breach of Rule 53 and imposed a fine of £600 upon him. Under Rule 180(ii), the Panel disqualified OSCAR PERFORMANCE (IRE) from the race, placing SUN KING first, HI LILY second, GLEN WARRIOR third and HALF NELSON fourth.
