'HOT FORM' SITS BARRON TOP OF TOTE WINTER WARMER TREE
David Barron will be hoping for a good performace from Oscar Pepper in the Tote Exacta 1-2-3 Stakes at Southwell tomorrow, to take himself and his stable staff one step nearer winning the Ł3,000 put up by the Tote as their Winter Warmer bonus.
The Tote's 'Winter Warmer' bonus scheme, awards points to trainers having runners finishing in the first six of Tote sponsored races on the all-weather tracks, over the next two months.
Barron heads the league table after the second leg of the scheme with one win and one second from his two entries, and has the opportunity to extend this lead tomorrow as nearest rival John Jenkins has no entry in the Southwell race.
"With entries in tomorrow's race and points already on the board Conrad Allen and Norma Macauley look to be the other two trainers with the most to gain from tomorrow's meeting," said Tote spokesman Jeremy Scott. "However, there will be a number of other trainers looking to clamber onto the ladder, as the Winter Warmer competition hots up.

INSPECTIONS PLANNED FOR WEEKEND MEETINGS
An inspection will be held at noon tomorrow to determine whether racing can go ahead on Saturday, January 20, 2001.
Brian Clifford, the Clerk of the Course said today: "It's not looking good. Both courses are frozen and I've called an inspection for noon tomorrow.
"The forecast is for temperatures down to -3C tonight with daytime temperatures not getting higher than +3C and the same applies for Friday into Saturday.
"It doesn't look very optimistic but we'll take a view tomorrow and look at the 24-hour forecast."
Inspections are also required at Haydock, Catterick and Stratford to see if their meetings on Saturday can go ahead
KELSO AND UTTOXETER OFF TOMORROW
Tomorrow's meeting at Kelso has already been called off due to frost.
Johnnie Fenwicke-Clennell Kelso's Clerk of the Course commented: "We are off.
"The course is frozen solid, it is still very cold and there is no sign of a thaw in the forecast."
At Uttoxeter the situation is similar and tomorrow's meeting was called off this afternoon.

They are:

LATEST NEWS FROM THE EMIRATES
Willie Ryan's outstanding form at Abu Dhabi continued at the capital course last Wednesday evening when the jockey rode a winning double while freshman trainer Peter Brette also secured the first double of his career.
The Ryan Brette combination have been a formidable team so far this season however they only combined with the one win, Fantasy Island in the opening event, with Ryan riding Sadiq to victory in the local-bred Purebred Arabian event and Brette preparing Brampton to win later in the programme.
The victory of Brampton continued the seasonal success of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum who is aiming to secure his first ownerčs Championship and this event was a good guide to how serious he is, the owner having five of the 10 runners.
Brette also had the second home, the Ryan-ridden Capital Prince. Sheikh Rashid, however, had little luck in the nightčs feature event when his star imports Taj Al Moulouk, Tarek and Badji Du Monteil finished second, fourth and fifth respectively behind the Richard Mullen-ridden Nez DčOr.
Mullen made it a double in the final two races as did Smart when they combined with the 10-year-old Baroud Al Maury to win the Purebred Arabian handicap.
