BANGOR OFF
Monday's jump fixture at Bangor was called off today, but Lingfield is due go-ahead as planned.
An inspection of Bangor's rain-hit venue revealed that the track is waterlogged.
"The meeting has been abandoned," said clerk of the course Michael Webster. "The course is unfit due to waterlogging in places."
There had been fears that the Lingfield turf course, on which three of the six scheduled races are due to be staged, would be unraceable due to waterlogging.
But clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: "It has passed the inspection - if there is any more rain there will be another inspection but the forecast is for it to be dry.
"The going is heavy. We had 21mm of rain overnight, which makes it five inches since the start of October and 10 inches in the past 30 days."
MAIDEN WINS POST
Maiden Dilshaan was the winner of the Group One Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster this afternoon.
The two-year-old Darshaan colt, runner-up on his only previous start, provided champion trainer-elect Sir Michael Stoute and jockey Johnny Murtagh with yet another valuable prize in what has been a tremendous year for them. The victory was Murtagh's tenth Group One of the season.
Dilshaan was last of the ten runners as they turned into the straight, with Snowstorm, Darwin and Dayglow Dancer setting the pace, but began to make stealthy headway on the outside with three furlongs to run.
Tamburlaine was rushed to the front by Richard Hughes and soon opened up a substantial lead.
But Murtagh had conjured an irresistible run from Dilshaan, and he caught Tamburlaine inside the final furlong and stayed on for a two-and-a-half length victory. Bonnard kept on for third, preceding his stablemates Darwin and Freud in fourth and fifth.
The trainer said: "We weren't that confident beforehand. But he has progressed a lot from his debut and was entitled to run well.
"He has a lot of scope, and he'll be a very interesting prospect next season, as he stays so well.
"I'd say he'd need a bit further than a mile, even from the beginning of next season, so the Derby rather than the Guineas will be the target."
Ladbrokes and Victor Chandler both offer Dilshaan at 20-1 for the Derby. Nayef, an impressive winner at Ascot earlier this month, remains the 10-1 favourite with the same bookmakers.
"When Richard quickened clear it took me a couple of strides to get into it, but once he got going I knew he was going to do it," said Murtagh.
"Fair dues to the horse - this was only his second run and he will be the real article next year. I'm sure he will get a mile and a half."

THE RACING POST TROPHY (CLASS A) (Group 1) (2-y-o) 1m
BP= best price of Coral, Ladbrokes, Tote and William Hill
1) 13220 Bonnard (IRE) 9-0 Aidan O'Brien IRE George Duffield 5
BP=25 L
Needs a lot of stoking up so he has the right jockey on board, Disappointed last time out. Does not appear good enough after two seconds in Group Three company.
2) 21030 Cauvery 9-0 Sean Woods Kevin Darley 3
BP=33 C & L
Won a Newcastle maiden and was a close up seventh in the seven-furlong Tattersalls Somerville Stakes last time. May need this trip but does not appear good enough.
3) 1124 Cd Europe (IRE) 9-0 Mick Channon Craig Williams 4
BP= 10 WH
Too much use was made of him last time out but there are some doubts about his stamina. Craig Williams is back on board and with stable and jockey in good form must not be ignored. Was previously second to Noverre in the Group Two horsesmouth.co.uk Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. Previously won the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. Good value.
4) 16 Darwin (IRE) 9-0 Aidan O'Brien IRE Paul Scallan 6
BP= 8 C & L
Won a May maiden at The Curragh and then not seen until disappointing in the Group One Aga Khan Studs National Stakes when reportedly lame. Difficult to weigh up.
5) 242522 Dayglow Dancer 9-0 Mick Channon John Reid 7
BP= 28/1 generally
Consistent sort but in lower grade races.
6) 2 Dilshaan 9-0 Sir Michael Stoute Johnny Murtagh 9
BP= 12/1 except WH
Fair second in Sandown maiden on first start, finishing well ahead of Cauvery. Obviously has a big reputation but you are taking quite a lot on trust.
7) 25 Freud (USA) 9-0 Aidan O'Brien IRE Michael Kinane 8
BP= 9/4 WH & T
Close-up fifth to Tobougg in the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket last weekend.
Previously second in an Irish maiden. Again taking quite a lot on trust and is therefore very poor value.
8) 512 Grandera (IRE) 9-0 James Fanshawe David Harrison 2
BP= 5 C
A neck second to King Charlemagne in the Group Three Tattersalls Somerville Stakes but it is difficult to judge the form as so many were close up. Tempest, the sixth, appeared to boost it when third in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes.
9) 26121 Snowstorm 9-0 Michael Bell Richard Mullen 1
BP= 25 L
Consistent sort who won a Doncaster nursery last time. Obviously useful and probably better than
his price suggests. Even so he has to improve a lot to win this.
10 221 Tamburlaine (IRE) 9-0 Richard Hannon Richard Hughes 10
BP= 5/2 L & T
Progressive colt who was unlucky to come up against Nayeh on his second outing. Won well at Newmarket in a maiden last time. Potentially very good but this is still a short price.
SUMMARY
Fascinating race. The two market leaders are too short to be attractive and Cd Europe has top-class proven form and yet is 10/1. Worth backing each-way.
SCOOP6 POOL COULD HIT £1 MILLION
With over £500,000 already in the kitty, the Tote Scoop6 pool could top the £1-million barrier for the first time in three months tomorrow, as the bet focuses on the live Channel 4 racing from Kempton and Doncaster.
Over a month's worth of rollover money has seen the Scoop6 Win fund rollover grow to £264,087 and the Bonus fund £256,892.
Tote Press Officer Jeremy Scott commented: "The Scoop6 rollover funds are already swollen over the £500,000 mark, and the Tote believe the pools may have topped the magic million by the time the bet gets underway tomorrow afternoon.
"The bet has not seen pools this size since July, and the rollovers which made the 'Essex boys' syndicate the first £1 million winners of the bet. If the bet is won tomorrow the Win fund payout will be the third biggest in the history of the bet.
"A single winner tomorrow could expect to collect over £400,000 and having achieved the first part of the Scoop6 double, will then be looking to play for the bonus fund next week which could take their winnings to £750,000."
Today's Scoop6 legs are:
Leg 1 2.55 Kempton Charisma Gold Cup (Handicap Chaser)
Leg 2 3.10 Doncaster Constant Security Doncaster Stakes
Leg 3 3.45 Doncaster Racing Post Trophey
Leg 4 4.15 Doncaster Tote/Racing Post 'Ten to follow' Stakes (Showcase H'cap)
Leg 5 4.30 Kempton Stanley Racing Novces' Chase
Leg 6 4.45 Doncaster racingpost.co.uk Conditions Stakes
DIATRIBE WINS CAULFIELD CUP
Australianchampion jockey Jim Cassidy honoured a promise to trainer George Hanlon when he won today's $2 million Caulfield Cup on Diatribe.
Cassidy made the promise to the 83-year-old trainer after he finished seventh on Diatribe in the AJC Australian Derby in April.
"I got too far back on him in the Derby and told George I would make it up to him in the Caulfield Cup," Cassidy said.
But for a while there was a touch of deja vu about Cassidy's tactics today as the four-year-old only had two horses behind him to the midway point of the 2400 metre event.
For Cassidy the crucial part of the Cup was from the 1000 metres and he launched his assault from that point, careful not to use up his charge before the home turn.
"I told George before the race that all I wanted from the five furlongs (1000m) was an uninterrupted run," he said.
Cassidy stayed on the rails looking on in disbelief as many of his rival jockeys made their runs from as far out as the 800 metres.He sat poised on the rails, biding his time.
"I didn't panic and just let them go," he said.
Entering the straight Diatribe had moved up to be ninth and was still close to the rails while the rest of the field seemingly scouted wide.
Approaching the 200 metres Cassidy drove Diatribe through, hitting the front almost on cue and giving the former New Zealnder his second victory in the race after scoring on Might And Power three years ago.
And just as Might And Power broke the course record so, too, did Diatribe and George Hanlon went home with his first Caulfield Cup.
Godolphin's All The Way finished 16th
The other jockeys said:
2 Kaapstad Way (Gary Grylls): "I only wish I had drawn a barrier. I had to get back from the wide barrier. I would like to know what he ran his sectionals in."
3 Fairway (Damien Oliver): "It was a great effort. He left nothing out on the track. He just got outstayed the last little bit."
4 Freemason (Larry Cassidy): "I thought I was a hope when I pushed out at the 500 metres. I got to the outside of Camarena but I used up a length to get there and he only has a short sprint. He went to the line hard."
5 Ken's Joy (Peter Mertens): "He dipped badly at the 150 metres and only struggled after that."
6 Hill Of Grace (Brett Prebble): "I'm not sure she got the trip. The last bit took its toll."
7 Second Coming (Michael Coleman): "It was a terrific run. He came into the race well and wasn't far away at the finish."
8 Streak (Patrick Payne): "He got into a traffic jam. I was very happy with the way he ran."
9 Fuss (Kerrin McEvoy): "She ran up to her best. She got back and worked home well."
10 Pravda (Chris Munce): "She had every chance but didn't come on at the business end of the race."
11 Mont Rocher (John Marshall): "He overreacted when Coco Cobanna hit the rail and was a little disappointing when he got out in the straight."
12 Majestic Avenue (Stephen Baster): "He loomed up to be two or three lengths off the lead but couldn't sprint."
13 Celestial Show (Peter Knuckey): "Ran into the race but was found out the last bit."
14 Camarena (Glen Boss): "There was more pace on than I expected. She did a lot of work and jarred up a bit."
15 Citra's Prince (Steven King): "It looked like he would be in the finish but when I let him down he felt the hard track and didn't finish it off."
16 All The Way (Greg Hall): "What you saw is what you got."
17 Magneto (Len Beasley): "Felt the ground."
18 Coco Cobanna (Darren Gauci): "She was never going well enough to hold a forward position and when I tried to let her go she couldn't go."
